Usually seeing the empty benches in the classrooms of government schools.. we think that the number of children is less.. Once Sri Bose visited schools in rural areas and thought the same. I was surprised to see that the number of girls in some schools was very less. But let's find out later if there is a reason for all this. After knowing the real truth that the girls there are dropping out of school because of periods, she wanted to find a solution to this problem. A special project was started with this idea. At present, while creating awareness about menstruation for girls and women in rural areas, environment-friendly sanitary napkins are being prepared for them. This is the story of a Srishti spirit whose aim is to spread his project all over the country.. to completely remove the monthly misconceptions from this society! Telishaka..!
19-year-old Srishti from Bangalore is currently studying in the second year of Computer Science Engineering at Manipal Institute of Technology. Since his childhood, he has a habit of knowing about social problems and thinking of suitable solutions for them. Not only that.. She used to collect various things and distribute them to fellow children. For that, Srishti once went to the government schools in the rural areas when she was in school. In this order, it was observed that the number of girls in some classes is very less.
'At first I thought the number of students was less. But after meeting the principal of that school, I got to know the truth. Knowing that girls are dropping out of school during their periods. Realize that they are doing this because they don't have full understanding of periods. That's why we want to remove the misconceptions about these and create awareness. It is with this idea that we started a special program called 'Project Ecosanitation'..' says Srishti.

In 11 months.. in seven states..!
Last year in March Srishti, who started the project, aims to raise full awareness of menstruation among women and school-going girls in rural areas through this platform. For this, special awareness programs and workshops are being organized in the government schools and communities there.
'We are a highly educated family. Both mother and father are working. We openly talk about monthly matters in our house. So it seems like a very common thing. But the situation in rural areas is different. It is still considered a big mistake in some areas to talk about monthly. The main aim of my project is to dispel these myths and tell that periods are a part of our life. Initially, I used to go to the respective schools and conduct special classes to raise awareness among girls. But as days went by my fellow students and friends also joined hands with me. In this way, we are all forming some groups and taking this program forward.. In these 11 months, not only in Karnataka.. Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Telangana, Maharashtra, West Bengal.. in total we have organized our awareness programs in seven states..' says Srishti.

As a part of this, awareness is being raised among girls and women about many issues such as monthly hygiene, use of eco-friendly sanitary products, physical changes, reproductive health, PCOS.. Moreover.. she is doing her best to make Nelasari more common by including boys in these sessions. As part of its project, it has also started manufacturing eco-friendly sanitary napkins.
'Currently our sanitary pad is in prototype stage. After the pad is completely made.. after getting the respective certifications, we will bring the final product to the market soon. Not only selling it at a low price, but also making arrangements to provide it free to women and girls in rural areas. And then this project will be made nationwide.. The aim is to completely remove the misconceptions of monthly from this society..' Antonna Srishti.. through her project till now she has inspired more than 350 girls. The youth icon says her project is being funded by 'Be Visionaries Mercedes-Benz Fellowship'.
