Choose beekeeping as a supplement to agriculture and self Not only to achieve prosperity..Thollapalli Sravanti Sanjana is leading thousands of rural women on the path of empowerment. On the occasion of National Women Farmers Day, she received the best female farmer award from the National Agricultural Extension Management Organization (MANAGE) in Hyderabad. On this occasion she spoke to Vasundhara.

Our is Chennaraopet of Warangal District. From my childhood, I saw my uncles working hard in the field. Even if they work so hard, their profits are limited! I completed my higher studies in Narsampet. Jayashankar I am married to Raghu from Repaka of Bhupalapalli district. My association with cultivation continued even after marriage. After completing my education, I worked as a master trainer in the women and child welfare department for a year, left that job and went back to the soil. Every time I go to the farm, fellow women farmers come. They used to ask me how to get good profits in agriculture. Their questions got me thinking. At exactly the same time I went to a conference organized by scientists of agriculture related fields. There they imparted awareness on allied sectors like animal husbandry, mushroom cultivation and beekeeping. Of all of them, the one that caught my attention the most was the beekeeping! I realized that it would be very convenient and profitable not only for me but for all rural women.

Collecting from different districts...

I took training in beekeeping at NIRD, Hyderabad. Returned to the village and started farming. I used to collect and sell pure honey by raising different species of bees in various crop fields. Seeing all this, the women of the village also came forward, so I started training them for free. Training more than 10,000 women farmers for free so far has been an unforgettable satisfaction in my life. Presently I am running Sri Natural Honey training center in Karimnagar. Apart from producing honey, I also purify and sell honey collected from different districts. Presently serving as Master Trainer in Beekeeping and Life Member of National Bee Development Council. I named my daughter Honey as a symbol of my love and connection with bees. She is pursuing medical education.
