Prahaar Movie Review || Movie: Prahar: The Untold Story of Ujwal Nikam; Actors: Rajkumar Rao, Lalit Prabhakar, Jaideep Ahlawat, Wamika Gabbi, Ashish Vidyarthi, Sikander Kher, Nazar and others; Written by: Sumit Roy; Producer: Dinesh Vijan, Director: Avinash Arun; Release: 16-10-2026

26/11 is the darkest day in the history of India. Terrorists attacked Mumbai and killed many innocent people. In this background, many films/documentaries have come before the audience. 'Prahar: The Untold Story of Ujwal Nikam' is a courtroom drama based on the same theme. How is this film based on the life story of public prosecutor Ujwal Nikam who argued the 26/11 attacks case in court? How did Rajkumar Rao act in that role?

The story is..

Prahaar story || Ujwal Nikam (Raj Kumar Rao) is a prominent lawyer. He played a key role in the investigation of the 1993 Bombay blasts case and his name became famous across the country. If cut, the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack incident will fill many families with great sadness. Ajmal Kasab (Lalit Prabhakar) is the only one who is captured alive as nine terrorists are killed in a shootout by the security forces. The Maharashtra government will entrust the investigation of the case to Ujwal Nikam. No lawyer comes forward to represent Kasab. Abbas Kazmi (Sikandar Kher) takes the responsibility in this order. If the terrorist attack took place in 2008, the court would have given its verdict in 2012, awarding capital punishment to Kasab. Why did it take four years to get justice for the victims? What evidence did Ujwal Nikam present to prove that Kasab was a terrorist? What are the challenges he faced in this process? That is the story of the film.

How is it..

Prahaar movie review || Everyone knows that Ajmal Kasab is the accused in the Mumbai carnage. There are evidences and evidences for that. But, the government spent crores of rupees for his security and legal affairs for four years. The government has nothing to do. He is sitting and grazing unnecessarily. Many people think that they can burn it and throw it away. During the arguments in the court, Ujjwal Nikam also expressed the same opinion that many people thought, 'Today's society wants satwara nyam (instant justice). Such justice would bring immediate relief to the victims. But, behind that conspiracy, many things will not come out.

Director Avinash Arun has succeeded in making 'Prahar' entertaining and emotional from the point of view of lawyer Ujwal Nikam. Not only that, but the way in which they have been developed while touching on the underlying India-Pakistan relations is pleasing. If it was just a courtroom drama, it would have been a documentary. Also, if the terrorist attack. We have seen them all. While mainly showing the court trial, Arun has developed this story as an emotional court drama by combining the carnage created by the terror group.

  • Review: Jailer 2.. How is the sequel of Rajinikanth's blockbuster movie?

The director brought the Mumbai terror attack incident like a flash to the court trial. The way in which the scenes are designed so that the police and witnesses chew water, unable to give correct answers to the questions and logic of the lawyer Abbas Kazmi, who is arguing on behalf of Kasab, so that he has the upper hand in the arguments is good. Although Ujjwal Nikam seems backward at first, the average viewer realizes that the real story is ahead. We have read many articles about Kasab's behavior and behavior in police custody. They tried to reveal all of them on screen. For a while he said that he was a minor, the police tortured him and convinced him of the truth, and for a while he said that when he came to see Amitabh Bachchan's house, the police caught him and arrested him as a terrorist. The entire first half will go on in a similar fashion.

How will Pakistan overcome terrorism while leading the courtroom drama in the second half? How can money give hope to innocent people there and turn them into jihadists? Many facts like this have been revealed on the screen. At the same time, an attempt was made to share emotions from the perspective of the victims in the court. Especially the scene of the child's testimony is tear-jerking. However, some scenes seem far from reality. Ujjwal showed that he worked day and night to investigate this case, keeping his family aside, but what efforts did he make to collect the necessary evidence for the court? What are the challenges he faced in this process? I didn't go into those things. As a result, the story and narratives go flat. There is no thrilling scene anywhere. Even as a drama set in the background of the Ujwal family, it seems like a bit of a stretch affair.

Who did it...

Rajkummar Rao has been cast in the role of Ujwal Nikam. His acting is completely smooth. In the process of hearing the arguments and bringing the facts to the attention of the court as the representative of the victims, he was hooked by the facial expressions and gestures. Sikandar Kher also acted well as the rival lawyer. There will be a strong argument in the court, but there will be no screaming and yelling as shown in commercial movies. Wamiqa Gabbi as Ujwal's wife and Rithvik as Akant, son of Wamiqa Gabbi did justice to their roles. Lalit Prabhakar's performance as Ajmal Kasab is the highlight of the movie. The gestures he made as part of the investigation were good. Jaideep Ahlawat shines as a Pakistani lawyer. The rest acted according to the scope. Technically the movie is good. The background music elevated the emotional scenes of the court and victims. The way director Avinash Arun has revealed the facts from Ujwal Nikam's point of view without going for commercial sentiments is good.
