India vs West Indies! Internet Desk: Five T20 series is going on between India and West Indies. A series with Team India means money for the boards. But, due to the revenue model being followed now, they will not get any income, said Dehring, CEO of Windies Cricket Board. During this trip, it was revealed that the income of around 20 to 30 million dollars (Rs. 190 crores to Rs. 285 crores) will come. However, they said that they will not get any share in that income. He said that the reason for that was the policy brought in 1997. Because of that, West Indies cricket suffered a lot. In this system, 100 percent of the revenue will go to the host team.
- So I gave up alcohol... it was a rebirth for me: Chahal
''Now our team is on a tour of India. Game wise everything is good. Through this trip Rs. 285 crore revenue will be generated. But, we don't get money. The reason for this is the policy brought in 1997. When the ICC member countries voted to change the economic model, it was a situation where I was lucky or unlucky to be there. Until then, the West Indies team was a hot favourite. Other countries are interested in playing series with our team. They want to visit their countries. Then the income we got... we had more than just hosting a series. We did not vote in favor of the new policy. Let me just say that it will have a serious impact in the future. Just like that... our team started to fall. We have faced a lot of difficulties financially,'' said the CEO.
Policy should change..
''I am not blaming India (Team India). It has a population of 150 crores. Cricket is well received. The income here is also huge. Even if we host the series in our country... it will not be of much use. What is the income in Antigua? It is also not correct to compare the revenue generated in other Indian plains with the same Mumbai or Bangalore. Therefore, if the income distribution system changes, it will benefit our board too," Dehring clarified.
