Cross cuts in Amaravati ORR project

Today, Amaravati: Key to the capital region is Amaravati Outer. At a time when we are waiting for the central approval of the Ring Road (ORR) project and the start of the process of land acquisition and tenders, shocking decisions have come to light. The proposal for a spur (link) road to be built from Tenali to Kaja to connect the capital region in ORR has been shelved. While it was proposed to build service roads on both sides of the ring road, it was decided that there is no need for service roads on the outside. In the name of reducing the cost of the project, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Delhi officials have taken a lot of injustice to this project. Arbitrarily cuts were made in the project without considering the future needs. If the government does not respond to this immediately and put pressure on the centre, there is a possibility of serious injustice.

Proposal of Rs.38,450 crores

However, at the time of sanctioning the outer ring road project, the proposal of this bypass was withdrawn by the NHAI as the Vijayawada East Bypass was passing close to it. In its place, a spur road has been proposed on the ORR from near Tenali to Kaja. It is expected that this will create an easy connection from the capital Amaravati region to the ORR. But now unexpectedly this spur road proposal has been scrapped.

    Despite achieving service roads..

    When the alignment approval committee of the Ministry of Transport and National Highways (Morth) approved the first ORR on December 20, 2024, it stated that there were no service roads. ORR suggested to consider the proposal of inward service road if necessary. But CM Chandrababu responded to this and put pressure on the Center that there should be service roads on both sides of the ORR. He discussed this with Union Minister Gadkari several times. As a result, there were orders to send a proposal for the construction of service roads with two rows on both sides. To this extent, the officials here have included them in the DPR and sent them. Recently, the proposal of service roads outside ORR has been put aside.

    Is there any near road between Amaravati-ORR?

    With the latest decision of NHAI... People from capital region, Tadepalli and Mangalagiri will be far away from ORR. If there was a spur road from Kaja to ORR at Tenali.. it would have been a close route. Now with the removal of that proposal.. they all have to go to Budampadu on the Chennai-Kolkata highway in the suburbs of Guntur and travel on the spur road from there to reach the ORR at Narakoduru. Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC) will go ahead. Once approved there, the final decision will be taken in the Union Cabinet meeting. In the meantime, if the state government, central ministers of the state and other public representatives do not wake up, the ORR project will be seriously damaged. There should be a Tenali-Kaja spur road connecting the capital Amaravati with the ORR, and under any circumstances a service road should be built outside the ORR. The state government has already agreed to bear about Rs. 1,200 crores including exemption from sanitation fees for minerals like gravel and gravel used for construction, state GST exemption for cement, steel etc. She said that Rs. 1000 crores will be spent on the cost of land acquisition. However, what is the point of making cross-sectional decisions? The Center should be questioned. It should be strongly insisted that ORR should approve the complete proposal from here and there should be no changes or cuts.
