Eminent director Bharathiraja passed away

Internet Desk: There is a deep tragedy in the film industry. Noted Tamil director Bharathiraja (84) passed away. He passed away today in Chennai after being treated for an illness for some time. He will be cremated with state honours.

Born on 17 July 1941, Bharathiraja became a director with the 1977 Tamil movie '16 Vayathinile' (Sixteen Years Old in Telugu). He entered the Telugu industry with the movie 'Kotta Jivatalu'. He also directed many classic films in Telugu and earned recognition as a legendary director. The films Seethakachiluka, Aaradhana and Jamadagni directed by him became blockbusters in the industry. He received six National Awards and four Filmfare Awards. Along with the National Award for 'Sitakochiluka', he received the Nandi Award for Best Director. He provided the story for 'Mangammagari Manavadu' and the screenplay for 'Palnati Paurusham'. Bharathiraja was last seen on the silver screen in Mohanlal starrer 'Tuduram'. In recognition of his services, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri award in 2004. (Bharathiraja Passed Away)

Crippled Son's Death

Last year, his son, actor Manoj Bharathiraja (48) died of a heart attack. He was depressed by this. After this tragedy, many celebrities visited him together. Recently, actress Radhika also met him. She said, 'I will put it at your feet if it comes'.
