Mumbai: The selectors are going to announce the Indian team 50 days before the start of the T20 World Cup. The selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar is going to select the team on Saturday itself. It is known that this mega tournament, which will be hosted by India, will start on February 7. Even though the team is being announced now.. India as the host has the opportunity to make changes till the day the tournament starts. That is why the selectors will declare five as standbys. Varun Chakraborty was also included in the team in place of Yashaswi Jaiswal before the start of this year's Champions Trophy. The selectors will also announce the teams for the limited overs series against New Zealand at home in January before the T20 World Cup. The team that will face the Kiwis in the T20 series is likely to be selected for the World Cup. It is expected that there will be no surprising names in the team to be announced by the selectors. Although captain Suryakumar Yadav and vice-captain Shubman Gill are struggling with poor form, they are sure to continue in the team. The T20 World Cup is expected to be Suriya's last chance not only as a captain but also as a player. Despite the demands of Yashaswi Jaiswal or Ishan Kishan to replace Shubman, who has not been consistent since his comeback in T20s, there is little chance of the selectors taking a decision in that direction. Along with Surya and Gill, Abhishek and Tilak will continue as batters. Jitesh will be selected as the first priority wicket keeper. Sanju Samson will be the second wicket keeper. Hardik, Dubey, Akshar and Sundar are sure to be in the team as all-rounders. Bumrah, Arshdeep, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakraborty and Kuldeep Yadav will continue as specialist bowlers. Yashaswi, Nitish, Parag, Rinku Singh, Prasad are likely to be selected as standbys.
