Today, Hyderabad: Center to protect personal information in the digital world. The provisions of the DPDP Act brought in 2023 came into force. Some will come into effect from November 14, some will come into effect after a year, and some will come into effect after 18 months. According to this calculation, the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act will come into full effect from May 14, 2027. It is known that digital information such as phone number and email ID given in various situations like when going to a shop, buying goods through e-commerce, booking a cab... is being misused. That is why the government brought the DPDP Act to protect digital information. In fact, although the rules were framed in the month of January this year, after receiving public opinion on them, necessary changes were made and the center issued a gazette notification on November 13. There are total 23 sections in these rules. Sections 1, 2, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 have come into effect immediately. Section 4 will come into force from 13th November 2026 i.e. the year of publication of the Gazette Notification. Section 3 along with Sections 5 to 16, 22 and 23 will come into force after 18 months. If the information is taken without permission, if the information is used in any other way, or if the information is stolen, the concerned organization will be held responsible. A fine of up to Rs 250 crore can be imposed if the allegations are proved.

- Data Formation of search committee with Chairperson of Protection Board of India, Cabinet Secretary for selection of members, representatives of Ministry of Legal Affairs, Electronics and Information Technology.
- Appointment of those suggested by the search committee.
- Chairperson, board members salaries, fixing dates for board meetings, procedures and resolutions related to these meetings.
- Within six months when complaint or information is received. Completion of the inquiry. If it is not possible for any reasons, the deadline can be extended by another three months.
- No one has to attend the hearing physically. Arguments can be heard online.
- Those who disagree with the orders issued by this board can approach the Appellate Tribunal.
Effective after one year..
Organizations will have to hire content managers to collect personal information. The Data Protection Board of India will decide on the appointment based on the details submitted by the concerned organization. The provision that the board will have the authority to approve or reject the appointment if satisfied will come into force after one year.
After 18 months..
The methods to be adopted for registration of personal information, its protection, measures to be taken if the information is stolen, the procedure to be taken by the victim who suspects that their information has been misused, the investigation and judgment related to it will come into force after May 13, 2027.
