ఈనాడు, బెంగళూరు: 2003లో రాష్ట్ర వ్యాప్తంగా కలకలం సృష్టించిన ‘రింగ్‌ రోడ్డు’ హత్య కేసులో ప్రధాన నిందితురాలు శుభ శంకరనారాయణ, ఆమె ప్రియుడు డి.అరుణ్‌ వర్మతో పాటు మరో ఇద్దరు నిందితులకు క్షమాభిక్షకు సిఫార్సు చేయకూడదని రాష్ట్ర మంత్రివర్గం తీర్మానించింది. కాబోయే భర్తను కుట్ర పన్ని హత్య చేయించిన శుభ, ఆమె ప్రియుడికి 2010లో రాష్ట్ర హైకోర్టు యావజ్జీవ కారాగార శిక్ష విధించిన విషయం తెలిసిందే. ఈ శిక్షను రద్దు చేయాలని కోరుతూ వీరు సుప్రీం కోర్టుకు మనవి చేసుకోగా రాష్ట్ర గవర్నర్‌ విచక్షణకు సిఫార్సు చేశారు. గతేడాది జులైలో సుప్రీం కోర్టు ఇచ్చిన ఈ తీర్పు మేరకు గవర్నర్‌ త్వరలో తన నిర్ణయాన్ని ప్రకటించాల్సి ఉంది. గురువారం మంత్రివర్గ సమావేశంలో ఈ అంశంపై చర్చించిన మంత్రులు కాబోయే భర్తను క్రూరంగా హత్య చేయించిన శుభ అండ్‌ బృందానికి క్షమాభిక్ష తిరస్కరించేలా గవర్నర్‌కు సిఫార్సుకు చేయాలని తీర్మానించారు. ఇదే సమావేశంలో ‘స్టింగ్‌ ఆపరేషన్‌’పై విచారణ, రిజర్వేషన్‌ పరిమితి పెంపు, కరవు తదితర అంశాలపైనా సుదీర్ఘంగా చర్చించారు.

2003 డిసెంబరు 1న బెంగళూరులో ఓ బహుళజాతి కంపెనీలో సాఫ్ట్‌వేర్‌ ఇంజినీర్‌గా పని చేస్తున్న గిరీష్‌తో న్యాయ విద్య ఐదో సెమిస్టర్‌ చదువుతున్న శుభకు నిశ్చితార్థం జరిగింది. అప్పటికే తన సీనియరు అరుణ్‌ వర్మతో ప్రేమలో ఉన్న శుభకు తల్లిదండ్రులు కుదిర్చిన నిశ్చితార్థం భారంగా అనిపించింది. ఈ విషయాన్ని ప్రియుడితో పంచుకున్న శుభ..తమకు అడ్డుగా ఉన్న కాబోయే భర్తను చంపేయాలని నిర్ణయించుకున్నారు. నిశ్చితార్థం జరిగిన రెండో రోజే కాబోయే భర్తను హోటల్‌లో భోజనం చేసేందుకు బయటకు రప్పించిన శుభ..తర్వాత హెచ్‌ఏఎల్‌ విమానాశ్రయం వద్ద ఆకాశంలో తిరిగే విమానాలను చూసేందుకు కారు నుంచి దిగేలా చేసింది. ఇదే సమయంలో ప్రియుడు అరుణ్‌ వర్మ మరో ఇద్దరితో కలిసి ద్విచక్రవాహనం షాక్‌ అబ్సార్బర్‌తో గిరీశ్‌పై దాడి చేశారు. ఈ సమయంలో తలపై తీవ్ర గాయాలతో ఆస్పత్రిలో చేరిన గిరీశ్‌ మరుసటి రోజు మరణించారు. తనకు ఇష్టం లేని వివాహాన్ని తల్లిదండ్రులతో చెప్పలేక, ప్రియుడిని విడిచిపెట్టలేక ఇలాంటి చర్యకు పాల్పడినట్లు పోలీసుల విచారణలో శుభ అంగీకరించింది. గిరీశ్‌ సోదరుడి ఫిర్యాదుతో సుదీర్ఘ విచారణ తర్వాత 2010లో హైకోర్టు శుభతో పాటు ప్రియుడు, మరో ఇద్దరికి యావజ్జీవ కారాగార శిక్ష విధించింది. సుప్రీం కోర్టు నుంచి బెయిల్‌ పొందిన శుభ అనంతరం క్షమాభిక్షకు దరఖాస్తు చేసుకుంది. రాజ్యాంగంలోని 161 ఆర్టికల్‌ ప్రకారం యావజ్జీవ శిక్ష ఖరారైన వారికి క్షమాభిక్ష ఇచ్చే విచక్షణాధికారం గవర్నర్‌కు ఉందంటూ సుప్రీం కోర్టు తేల్చింది. సమాజం నివ్వెరపోయే పాపానికి ఒడిగట్టిన శుభకు యావజ్జీవమే సరి అని సర్కారు అభిప్రాయపడింది.
