No Lifetime Tax.. Registration Fee No..

It has been found that these subsidies are boosting the electric vehicle market in the state. This is evidenced by the significant increase in purchases of EVs in the last financial year. The Transport Department has reported to the government that 91,107 electric vehicles have been registered. The total invoice value of these has been explained in the report as Rs.6,283 crores. Petrol, diesel, CNG, electric... In total, 10,37,227 new vehicles were registered in the year.. The share of electric vehicles is 8.8 percent. Especially in the car segment it was 12.5 percent. 243 electric buses have also hit the road.

Huge change with Jio 41..

With Jio 41 issued by the state government on 16 November 2024.. 100 percent exemption from road tax and registration fee on electric vehicles. While the earlier incentives had a limit on the number of vehicles, with GO 41, the government has given exemption to EVs regardless of the number. This exemption is available till December 31 this year.

For which vehicles?

Electric- two-wheelers, private cars, autos, commercial passenger vehicles like taxis, tourist cabs, three-seater autos, light goods vehicles, electric tractors. Similarly- life time exemption for electric buses run by RTC. Even for the vehicles driven by companies for their employees.

  • 68 percent of the EVs registered in 2025-26 are in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajigiri districts. The main reason for this is that the charging stations are more than the rest of the districts.
  • Most EVs were registered in October followed by February. While 91,107 were registered in the whole year, the number was 10,705 in October. It is estimated that one of the reasons for this could be the offers given by companies during Dussehra and Diwali festivals.
  • 62,565 electric two-wheelers were registered during the year. These are about 68 percent of the total EVs by 2025-26.
