Republican spirit: no republican spirit?

JWhat we remember is the parade in the national capital of Delhi, the unfurling of the tricolor, the reading of the preamble of the Constitution, the announcement of the highest awards of the country, etc. On that day, the whole country will have a similar solemn atmosphere. But Republic Day is not only a national celebration. It is an inner state that we have to look at every day in our personal lives and social affairs.
Republic means- Who is the ruler? The answer to the question is... not the king, not the throne, but ourselves! It may sound simple, but it is hard to practice. Because autonomy does not end with just voting; It also stands the test in our decisions, silences and negligence. While standing in a queue at a railway station or elsewhere, someone squeezes in the middle. People around do not even look at them and speak. Elsewhere, someone else commits corruption and injustice. Most of the people who know it wonder why. Was the spirit of the republic defeated at that moment? Or has it been silenced within us? A democracy cannot stand as long as the constitution is in the form of a book, the spirit of the constitution must come into our daily behavior. That is the true meaning of republic.

Choosing a republic after independence is not only a political decision; That is a philosophical statement. The idea that man is a law unto himself. But here lies a paradox, when we think we are the law, we act as if we are free to break the law. From not stopping at a traffic signal to infringing on the rights of the weak, these small violations can wound a republic from within.

A republic is not just a list of rights, it is also a contract of responsibilities. There is freedom of speech and it is wrong to speak as you like. While claiming that equality is in the law, if we do not question the inequalities in our hearts in our homes, the republic will be limited to paper. Republic Day is like a mirror for us. In that, we have to take care of the country and ourselves. Am I reinforcing this system through my daily life? Or is it causing its weakness? The true meaning of this day is to answer this question honestly.

On the evening of January 26, we will fold the flags and remove the banners. But the beginning of the republic should not end there. It should continue the next day in the office, on the bus, at school, on social media, in our every action. Because republicanism is a daily practice. When we practice it every day, this country will truly be in the hands of the people.

Every person should live with self-respect. You have to keep growing mentally. Life is not enough to be long, it must be great.
