Anuradha Thakur, Secretary of Economic Affairs:

Eemen is the chief officer in budget formulation. It will decide the macro-economic framework with allocation of resources for the year 2026-27. Heads the budget division which prepares the budget documents. This is Anuradha's first budget as a finance officer. Anuradha, a 1994 Himachal cadre IAS officer, was appointed as the secretary of financial affairs in July last year. It is remarkable that she is the first woman IAS to hold this post.

Arvind Srivatsava, Revenue Secretary:

She is the one who drafts the tax proposals in Part-B of the Budget speech. His team oversees all calculations of direct taxes like income tax, corporate tax, indirect taxes like GST and customs. Although this is Arvind's first budget as revenue secretary, he has experience working in the finance ministry. Previously, he worked as the Joint Secretary of the Budget Division. This time, there are expectations that customs duties and rationalization of TDS may be included in the budget.

Umlunmung Vyulnam, Expenditure Secretary:

M. Nagaraju, Financial Services Secretary:

The Department of Financial Services looks after the implementation responsibilities of the government's financial inclusion and social security schemes. This department monitors the financial condition of public sector banks, insurance companies and pension schemes. This department plays a key role in advancing the economic agenda of the central government.

Arunish Chawla, Secretary, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management

His team oversees the affairs like disinvestment and privatization of the government. His department plays a key role in meeting the non-tax revenue targets arising from the sale of shares in central public sector undertakings.

K. Mozas Chalai, Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises

This department oversees the capital expenditure plans of the Central Public Sector Undertakings. Ensures efficient utilization of budget allocations. This department plays a vital role in asset sale and reviewing the financial condition of public sector organizations.

Along with these departments in the Ministry of Finance, the Office of the Chief Financial Adviser also plays a key role in budget formulation. Currently V. Anantha Nageswaran is the Chief Economic Adviser to the Central Government. His team looks at forecasting economic growth, sector-wise performance, and studying global financial crises.
