In the letter, they stated that the local spinning units have been hit hard due to duty-free import of cheap yarn from India for many years. This has left unsold stock worth more than Rs 12,000 crore in the domestic textile industry, he said. It is said that thousands of workers have become unemployed due to the closure of more than 50 textile industries.

On the other hand, the textile exporters' association of Bangladesh is opposing the demand of the textile industry groups of Bangladesh. Textile exporters claim that locally produced yarn is more expensive compared to yarn imported from India. He said that international clothing brands and countries of the world give importance to the yarn produced in India in terms of better quality. He said that if the duty-free facility available to India is stopped, the exports from there will decrease. Due to this, Bangladesh has not faced competition in the global clothing market.
