Charla, Newstoday: Sukma in Bastar Division of Chhattisgarh. 14 Maoists were killed in two separate encounters in Bijapur districts on Saturday. Six of them are women. According to the police, among the deceased was Sachin Mangadu, a key Maoist leader and secretary of the Kunta Area Committee. DRG (District Reserve Guard) teams went to the area for operation in large numbers after receiving information from the intelligence sources about the presence of Maoists in Kishtaram forests of Sukma district. In this order, a fierce exchange of fire took place between the security forces and the Maoists on Saturday morning. After the firing stopped, the forces conducted a search operation in the area and found the dead bodies of 12 Maoists. There are five female Maoists among them. A large quantity of weapons including AK-47s, INSAs and SLRs were recovered by the forces. Bastar IG Sundarraj revealed in a media conference in Bijapur that Kunta DVCM Sachin Mangadu has passed away. He said that the Maoists who caused the death of Kunta ASP Akasha Rao Giripunje by exploding an IED in June last year were killed in this encounter. He said that key Maoists belonging to 4 and 8 platoons who were active in Kishtaram and Kunta area committee were killed in this encounter and the process of identifying them is going on.

Two Maoists were killed in an encounter that took place at 5 am in Gaganpally-Murkipar forests under Basaguda police station of Bijapur district. They have been identified as Palmedu Area Committee Member Hunga Madakam Elias Panchuga and Party Platoon Committee Member Aiti Muchaki Elias Jogi.
