Internet Desk: Shubhanshu Shukla, who became the first Indian to visit the International Space Station, revealed an interesting fact. He said that his two wisdom teeth were removed before the space flight. Although the astronauts are aware of how to deal with emergency medical situations, dental surgery cannot be performed on the spacecraft. That is why they have to be removed early.

''Dental health is very important. Many (aspiring astronauts) had their teeth removed during selection. These are removed during training. They are trained on how to deal with any health emergency during travel. If there's one thing that can't be done, it's dental surgery. That is why precautions are taken in advance to avoid any problem. I have removed two wisdom teeth,'' said Shukla.

Shubhanshu Shukla, who participated in a program organized at IIT Bombay, made these comments. Along with Shukla, group captain Prashanth Nair and group captain Angad Pratap, who were selected for 'Gaganyan', participated. On this occasion, Shukla revealed that Prashant Nair had three teeth removed and Pratap had four teeth removed. He joked that if you want to be an astronaut, you have to give up your knowledge.
