Today, Hyderabad: Another sensation in the illegal phone tapping case. Almost 21 months after the case was registered, the government has recently formed a special investigation team (SIT) which has become a key development. It is believed that the investigation of the case will take a crucial turn. The SIT will be headed by Hyderabad Commissioner VC Sajjanar. DGP Shivdhar Reddy issued an order on Thursday setting up a sit with him along with 9 other police officers. Jubilee Hills ACP Venkatagiri, who has been the investigating officer in the case so far, has been appointed as the investigating officer of the SIT. While six accused have been identified in this case so far, it is interesting to see who else will come out in the latest investigation.

Though competent authorities have investigated so far.. The SIT was formed in the wake of the campaign that there was a delay in the necessary permissions to carry forward the investigation in a proper manner. It seems that this time there is a chance to widen the investigation in the sense that threats were committed through illegal tapping of the phone. In fact, it seems that after a week ago, the higher officials had decided on the SIT.. After discussing one or two rounds with the officials who are going to be included in it, the orders were issued on Thursday. It has been stated in the order that a charge sheet will be filed as soon as possible.

A complaint was registered in Panjagutta police station on March 10 last year against the allegations of illegal phone tapping in the Special Intelligence Branch (SIB) and cooperation with the Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi. The investigation of that case was supervised by the commissioner of Hyderabad, Kothakota Srinivasa Reddy. The then DCP SM Vijaykumar and ACP Venkatagiri of Hyderabad West Zone took up the investigation. At that time, the task force arrested retired DCP Radhakishan Rao, additional DCPs Bhujanga Rao, Thirupatanna and ACP Praneet Rao and sent them to remand. As soon as they were interrogated, former SIB chief Prabhakar Rao was identified as the prime accused and a charge sheet was filed within 90 days. Prabhakar Rao and another accused, Shravan Rao, were hiding in America, so red corner notices were issued and they were extradited. Although they were brought in, there was no progress in the investigation due to the destruction of vital evidence in the SIB.

The investigation became complicated when Prabhakar Rao said that he had destroyed the evidence only on the orders of his superiors. Criticisms were expressed that the team of police officers investigating the case at that time could not move forward as there were many obstacles to interrogate the high officials mentioned by Prabhakar Rao in his testimony. Although there have been opinions that the investigation of the case cannot be concluded without interrogating them and recording their statements, no steps have been taken in that direction. It is suspected that Prabhakar Rao is not revealing the facts because of the fact that the key leaders of the previous government are behind this affair. In this context, it is being argued that the SIT was formed to reveal the secrets of the high-ranking officials and leaders by investigating more deeply. On the other hand, the state home department sent a report to the court that it was only because of their trust in the SIB that they allowed the tapping of the phones indicated by Prabhakar Rao.
