Visakhapatnam: 189 tonnes of cattle meat buried in Visakha

Anandapuram: Cows are slaughtered.. Visakhapatnam city police have busted an international racket of illegally exporting meat to foreign countries. Visakha-1 DCP Manikantha revealed to the media that a total of 189 tonnes of meat has been seized and the key accused have been arrested. In the context of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials conducting inspections at major ports across the country, based on the complaints received by the Animal Husbandry Department, inspections were conducted at Shree Mitra Cold Storage under Anandapuram along with State Vigilance and Food Safety officials. The samples were sent to the lab in Hyderabad as there was suspicion of the meat being prepared for export to foreign countries. In these tests, it was found that cow meat, beef meat and buffalo meat were present. The police have registered a case to this effect.

Farhan, the main accused, has been arrested. As the investigation revealed that it was a big racket, the main suppliers Mansoor Ali were arrested from Lonawa in Maharashtra and Rashid Qureshi from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. The accused admitted during the investigation that they were illegally exporting cattle meat to foreign countries through Visakhapatnam port after preparing false invoices, e-way bills and health certificates.  Police are hunting for the remaining six accused.  As the court allowed to bury the seized meat.. DCP said that 189 tonnes of meat was buried in the presence of GVMC, Pollution Control Board, Animal Welfare Department and Revenue officials. on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram& Google News.
