ముగ్గుబుట్టలా నెరిసిన తల.. ‘భారతీయుడు’లో కమల్హాసన్ను తలపించే ఆహార్యం.. పొద్దున్నే పార్కులో చకచకా నడిచేస్తూ ఓ పెద్దాయన కనిపిస్తారు. వయసు డెబ్బయ్యో.. ఎనభయ్యో ఉండొచ్చు అనుకుంటాం.. కాదు.. కాదు.. 102 ఏళ్లంటే నోరెళ్లబెడతాం. ఆయన రిటైరై దాదాపు 5 దశాబ్దాలవుతోంది. సంతానం కూడా విశ్రాంత ఉద్యోగులయ్యారు. ఇంత వయసొచ్చినా ఆయనకు అనారోగ్య సమస్యలు లేవంటే అతిశయోక్తి కాదు. స్వాతంత్య్ర పోరాట నేపథ్యం, స్వతంత్ర భారతంలో ఉద్యోగుల హక్కుల కోసం పోరాడిన చరిత్ర ఉన్న ఆయన పేరు ఏటుకూరి కృష్ణమూర్తి. శతాధిక వయసులోనూ చురుగ్గా ఉన్న ఆయన జీవనశైలి ఆదర్శప్రాయం.. అనుసరణీయం.
క్రమశిక్షణే రహస్యం
ఆది నుంచీ కృష్ణమూర్తిది క్రమశిక్షణతో కూడిన దినచర్య. ఇప్పటికీ తన పనులు తానే చేసుకుంటారు. వేకువజామున ఐదు గంటలకే మేల్కొంటారు. పార్కులో 4 కిలోమీటర్ల నడక, యోగా సాధన చేస్తారు. తరువాత అల్పాహారం (రెండు ఇడ్లీలు/ఒక కప్పు ఉప్మా/దోశ) తీసుకుంటారు. నూనెలో వేయించిన ఆహార పదార్థాలకు దూరంగా ఉంటారు. ఒక గ్లాసు పాలు తాగుతారు. తర్వాత దినపత్రికలు చదువుతారు. స్నేహితులు, సన్నిహితులతో గడుపుతారు. మధ్యాహ్నం పప్పులు, పెరుగన్నం, కూరగాయలతో భోజనం చేస్తారు. తర్వాత 2 గంటలసేపు నిద్ర.. రాత్రిపూట గ్లాసు పాలు తాగి 10 గంటలకల్లా నిద్రపోతారు. రోజు మొత్తమ్మీద కనీసం 8 నుంచి 9 గంటలు నిద్రకు కేటాయిస్తారు. పూర్తి శాకాహారం, దురలవాట్లు లేకపోవడం, సానుకూల దృక్పథం తన ఆరోగ్య రహస్యాలంటారాయన. స్వాతంత్య్ర సమరయోధులకు ఇచ్చే హెల్త్కార్డున్నా.. దాంతో ఆయనకు పనిలేదు. ఆసుపత్రికి వెళ్లాల్సిన అవసరం ఒక్కసారీ రాలేదు. పరోపకార దృక్పథంతో సమాజంపైనా శ్రద్ధ చూపే నైజం కృష్ణమూర్తిది. పెన్షన్ డబ్బుల్లో కొంత భాగాన్ని వృద్ధాశ్రమాలకు, తాను నమ్మిన పార్టీకి విరాళంగా అందిస్తున్నారు.
పిల్లలే ఆస్తి
దాదాపు మూడు దశాబ్దాల ప్రభుత్వ వేతనం.. నాలుగు దశాబ్దాలకు పైగా పెన్షన్ తీసుకున్నా.. కృష్ణమూర్తికి సొంత ఇల్లు లేదు. హైదరాబాద్ విజయనగర్ కాలనీలో అద్దె ఇల్లే నివాసం. పిల్లలే తన ఆస్తి అని చెప్పే కృష్ణమూర్తికి ఇద్దరు కుమారులు, ఇద్దరు కుమార్తెలు. పెద్ద కుమారుడు శ్రీనివాసమూర్తి సీపీఐ లెజిస్లేటివ్ పార్టీ సెక్రటరీగా పనిచేస్తున్నారు. రెండో అబ్బాయి భరద్వాజ్ ఫ్రీలాన్స్ జర్నలిస్టు. పెద్ద అమ్మాయి స్వతంత్ర గృహిణి. చిన్న అమ్మాయి ఉషారాణి బీఎస్ఎన్ఎల్లో పనిచేసి రిటైరయ్యారు.
బ్రిటిష్ హయాంలో జైలు జీవితం
గుంటూరు జిల్లా ఏటుకూరులో సీతారామయ్య, లక్ష్మీబాయమ్మ దంపతులకు 1923 సెప్టెంబరు 9న కృష్ణమూర్తి జన్మించారు. గుంటూరు టౌన్ హైస్కూల్లో విద్యనభ్యసించారు. తండ్రి అందించిన జాతీయోద్యమ స్ఫూర్తి వంటబట్టింది. 1935లో గుంటూరు వచ్చిన మహాత్మాగాంధీని చూశాక.. మనసు మరింతగా ఉద్యమంవైపు మళ్లింది. అప్పటి నుంచి స్వాతంత్య్రోద్యమ కార్యక్రమాలే ఆయన దినచర్యగా మారాయి. పలు ఉద్యమాలు, నిరసన ప్రదర్శనల్లో పాల్గొన్నారు. 1940లో భారత కమ్యూనిస్టు పార్టీలో చేరారు. ‘క్విట్ ఇండియా’ ప్రదర్శనలో పాల్గొన్నందుకు 15 రోజుల జైలు జీవితం అనుభవించారు. బొంబాయి నౌకాదళ సైనిక తిరుగుబాటుకు సంఘీభావంగా 1946లో లఖ్నవూలో జరిగిన మిలిటరీ ప్రదర్శనకు కృష్ణమూర్తి నాయకత్వం వహించడంతో బ్రిటిష్ పాలకులు ఆగ్రహించారు. ఆయనను కోర్ట్ మార్షల్ ద్వారా విచారించి జైలుశిక్ష విధించారు. దీంతో కృష్ణమూర్తి 8 నెలల పాటు లఖ్నవూ, లాహోర్ మిలిటరీ జైళ్లలో గడిపారు.
అనుభవాలకు అక్షరరూపం
స్వాతంత్య్రం వచ్చాక.. కృష్ణమూర్తి 1948లో కర్నూలు జిల్లా ఆళ్లగడ్డలో నెలకు రూ.37 వేతనంతో రెవెన్యూశాఖలో ఉద్యోగంలో చేరారు. 1978లో రెవెన్యూ ఇన్స్పెక్టర్గా ఉద్యోగ విరమణ చేశారు. ప్రస్తుతం ప్రతినెలా రూ. 60 వేల పెన్షన్ వస్తోంది. తన అనుభవాలకు ఆయన గ్రంథ రూపమిచ్చారు. ‘భారత స్వాతంత్య్రోద్యమంలో మా ఊరు’ శీర్షికతో రచించిన పుస్తకంలో గుంటూరు జిల్లా స్వాతంత్య్రోద్యమ చరిత్రతో పాటు.. పలువురు స్వాతంత్య్ర సమరయోధుల జీవిత విశేషాలను ఛాయాచిత్రాలతో అందించారు. చిన్ననాటి జ్ఞాపకాలు- చెరిగిపోని అనుభవాలు, స్వాతంత్య్ర సమరయోధుల సంస్థ ఆవిర్భావం - అంతర్థానం, ఇదీ మా ఊరు, ప్రజా వైద్యులు వంటి పుస్తకాలూ రచించారు.
రాజకీయాలు డబ్బుతో ముడిపడ్డాయి: కృష్ణమూర్తి
రాజకీయ నాయకులతో పాటు ప్రజలూ మారిపోయారు. ఓట్ల పండగొస్తే ఎవరు డబ్బు ఇస్తారా అని ఓటర్లు ఎదురు చూడడం బాధాకరం. ఒకప్పుడు నాయకుల ప్రచారం కోసం ప్రజలే చందాలిచ్చేవారు. అప్పట్లో వావిలాల గోపాల కృష్ణయ్య ఎన్నికల ప్రచారం కోసం రూ.5 వేలు ఖర్చు చేశారని తెలిసి పార్టీ నిలదీసిన సందర్భాలున్నాయి. కానీ ఇప్పుడు ఎవరు ఎంత ఖర్చు పెడతారని పార్టీలు చూస్తున్నాయి. భవిష్యత్తు మరింత భయంకరంగా ఉంటుందేమోనన్న ఆందోళన కలుగుతోంది.

Grey head like a mug.. in 'Indian' Kamal Haasan's look.. Early in the morning, an old man is seen walking briskly in the park. We think the age may be seventy.. eighty.. no.. no.. 102 years. It has been almost 5 decades since he retired. Sons also became retired employees. It is not an exaggeration that he has no health problems even at his age. His name is Etukuri Krishnamurthy, who has a background of freedom struggle and a history of fighting for the rights of workers in independent India. Active even at the age of a centenarian, his lifestyle is exemplary.. Adaptable.
Discipline is the secret
Krishnamurthy had a disciplined routine from the beginning. He still does his own work. They wake up at five o'clock in the morning. A 4 km walk and yoga are practiced in the park. Then have breakfast (two idlis/one cup of upma/dosa). Avoid foods fried in oil. Drink a glass of milk. Then read newspapers. Spend time with friends and relatives. In the afternoon they have a meal of pulses, curd and vegetables. Then sleep for 2 hours. Drink a glass of milk at night and sleep for 10 hours. At least 8 to 9 hours are allotted for sleep in a day. Complete vegetarian diet, absence of ailments and positive attitude are the secrets of his health. Even if he had a health card given to the freedom fighters, it did not work for him. There was no need to go to the hospital. Nijam Krishnamurthy is a philanthropic person who cares about the society as well. He donates a part of the pension money to old age homes and to a party he believes in.
Children are property
Government salary for almost three decades...Despite taking pension for more than four decades...Krishnamurthy does not own a house. Rented House Residence in Vijayanagar Colony, Hyderabad. Krishnamurthy, who says children are his property, has two sons and two daughters. Eldest son Srinivasamurthy is working as CPI Legislative Party Secretary. The second boy Bhardwaj is a freelance journalist. The elder girl is an independent housewife. The little girl Usharani worked in BSNL and retired.
Prison life during British rule
Guntur District Krishnamurthy was born on September 9, 1923 to Sitaramaiah and Lakshmibayamma in Etukur. Studied at Guntur Town High School. The spirit of nationalism given by the father was cooked. After seeing Mahatma Gandhi who came to Guntur in 1935, his mind turned more towards the movement. Since then freedom struggle activities became his daily routine. Participated in many movements and protests. Joined the Communist Party of India in 1940. He served 15 days in jail for participating in the 'Quit India' demonstration. The British rulers were angered when Krishnamurthy led a military demonstration in Lucknow in 1946 in solidarity with the Bombay Naval Mutiny. He was tried by court martial and sentenced to imprisonment. With this, Krishnamurthy spent 8 months in Lucknow and Lahore military prisons.
Experiences become literal
After freedom, Krishnamurthy joined the revenue department in Allagadda, Kurnool district in 1948 with a salary of Rs.37 per month. Retired as Revenue Inspector in 1978. Currently Rs. 60 thousand pension is coming. He wrote a book about his experiences. In the book titled 'Bharata Swatantyrodyamalo Ma Uru', along with the history of the freedom struggle of Guntur district, the life details of many freedom fighters have been presented with photographs. He has also authored books like Childhood Memories - Unfading Experiences, Freedom Fighters Organization Irbhava - Antarthanam, Edi Ma Auru, Praja Doctors.
