India as 'Vishvabandhu'

StateOur constitution is not limited to the division of powers between democratic systems to define the role of the government in meeting public needs. Indian policy has recognized the fact that missteps in connecting with the world can be detrimental to the nation's progress in the long run. That is why Article 51 of the Constitution makes it clear that it is the responsibility of the state to promote peace and security internationally and to establish fair and honorable relations with foreign countries. This constitutional principle, which hopes to make India a 'Vishwabandhu', has been guiding our foreign policy for decades. Accordingly, India continues to be a trusted friend and natural partner of many countries today. While maintaining relations with the superpowers, it is maintaining its strategic autonomy by constantly breaking new ground with emerging countries. America and China are strengthening bilateral ties with mutual respect, trust and cooperation, away from the evildoers who use threats, use of force and debt to influence foreign countries. Prime Minister Modi recently visited Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman. While consolidating India's economic and cordial ties with all three, they gave a positive message that India is always ahead to walk shoulder to shoulder with them while understanding the aspirations of emerging nations!

Ethiopia, located in a geographically crucial area near the Red Sea trade routes in the Horn of Africa, is recognized as one of the fastest growing economies with a population of around 14 crores. Strengthening friendship with Ethiopia - the headquarters of the 55-nation African Union - will help strengthen cordial relations with the rest of the continent's kingdoms.  There, it will curb the expansion of China's influence to some extent and gather Africa's support for the protection of our interests at the UN forums. A strategic partnership with a politically stable Jordan in troubled West Asia would benefit India in meeting its agricultural, trade and security needs. Prime Minister Modi's visit will help the alliance between the two countries committed to the noble concept of living together in peace to flourish mutually!

India's Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with its old ally Oman is most welcome. This will help the bilateral trade value, which is currently over a billion dollars, to further grow. The stronger the friendship with Muscat, the better it will benefit India in an environment of uncertainty over Trump's tariffs. Engagement with African and West Asian countries will promote balance in international relations and increase India's leverage in the multilateral world. India's prestige is ironed out by a foreign policy that contributes to collective prosperity with friendly cooperation, unlike US hegemony and China's expansionism. Advancing that diplomacy will strengthen India's voice on the international stage as the voice of emerging nations!
