Today, Amaravati: The seat adjustment process between the alliance parties in the urban local body elections ended in a cordial atmosphere. After long discussions, the three parties came to an agreement. Although there was some deadlock in the talks between TDP and Jana Sena, finally the talks came to an end in the trend of exchange between the two parties. Respecting the aspirations of party leaders and activists at the field level, TDP, Jana Sena and BJP have completed the seat adjustment process. They announced on Thursday night which party will contest from where. 

The TDP will contest in 11 places, Jana Sena in 4 places and BJP in 2 places out of 17 mayoral seats. TDP will contest in 78 places, Jana Sena in 21 places and BJP in 7 places for the posts of chairpersons in municipalities and city panchayats. Out of a total of 123 urban local bodies, TDP will contest in 89 seats, Jana Sena in 25 seats and BJP in 9 seats. 20.33% of the total seats were allotted to Jana Sena and 7.32% to BJP. If one party is Mayor/Chairman, there is a possibility to adjust the post of Deputy Mayor/Vice Chairman to another party. 

Regarding the aspirations of the activists:Four days of extensive discussions were held between the key leaders of the alliance parties on the adjustment of seats in the urban local bodies. There was some deadlock in the discussions between TDP and Jana Sena regarding who should contest in how many seats. There was some deadlock as the Janasena demanded more seats and the TDP said that they could not allot them in view of various equations. The excitement continued in the ranks of both the parties as to how this could be resolved in an atmosphere of harmony. From Monday to Wednesday, Janasena and BJP leaders discussed with Chief Minister Chandrababu and TDP leaders with Janasena chief and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. In the meeting of the Janasena leaders with the Chief Minister on Wednesday, an understanding was almost reached on the adjustment of seats. In continuation of that, in the discussions held by the Janasena and BJP leaders with the CM on Thursday, the adjustment of the seats came to an end. 

• For example, when there were signs that the Peddapuram municipality would be allotted to the Janasena, the TDP workers there expressed extreme concern. Understanding their aspirations, the Jana Sena agreed to contest TDP instead of Peddapuram. 
• Janasena demanded the post of mayor of Eluru. Although there was some opposition from the ranks of the TDP, the party leadership corrected them and paved the way for the Janasena contest. 

Announcement of candidates from today

The process of selection of candidates for the posts of mayors of corporations, municipalities and city panchayats is almost over. Candidates will be announced from Friday. Candidates for the posts of Corporator and Councilor will be finalized in the districts and announced there. 

Discussions on Divisions and Wards

On the other hand, there is a heated exercise between the three parties in the districts on the adjustment of divisions and wards in corporations and municipalities. District presidents, MLAs and chief leaders of TDP, Jana Sena and BJP are holding extensive discussions. The action will come to an end on Friday and Saturday.

BJP:Rajamahendravaram, Anantapuram
