దిల్లీ: భారత మహిళల క్రికెట్‌ కెప్టెన్‌ స్మృతి మంధాన.. యునిసెఫ్ ఇండియా సెలబ్రిటీ అడ్వకేట్‌గా నియమితురాలైంది. ఆదివారం అంతర్జాతీయ బాలికల దినోత్సవం సందర్భంగా యునిసెఫ్ ఈ విషయాన్ని ప్రకటించింది. యుక్త వయసు బాలికల సాధికారత, ఆరోగ్యం కోసం పాటుపడడం, వాళ్లు అవకాశాలను అందిపుచ్చుకునేలా చేయడం, సమాన హక్కులపై అవగాహన కల్పించడం సెలబ్రిటీ అడ్వకేట్‌గా స్మృతి విధులు. ‘‘యునిసెఫ్, ఇండియా సెలబ్రిటీ అడ్వకేట్‌గా ఎంపిక కావడాన్ని గొప్ప గౌరవంగా భావిస్తున్నా. ప్రతి కల ఒక అవకాశంతోనే మొదలవుతుందని క్రికెటర్‌గా ఎదిగే క్రమంలో తెలుసుకున్నా. కఠోర శ్రమ, అంకితభావం, ప్రోత్సాహంతో ఆ అవకాశం మనల్ని మరో దశకు తీసుకెళ్తుంది. బాలలు ఇలాంటి అవకాశాలకు అర్హులు’’ అని స్మృతి తెలిపింది. భారత క్రికెట్‌ దిగ్గజం సచిన్‌ తెందుల్కర్‌ ప్రస్తుతం యునెసెఫ్‌ దక్షిణ ఆసియా ప్రాంతీయ సుహృద్భావ రాయబారిగా ఉన్నాడు. ‘‘యునిసెఫ్ ఇండియా కుటుంబంలోకి స్మృతికి స్వాగతం, మైదానంలో నువ్వు లక్షల మందికి స్ఫూర్తినిచ్చావు. మైదానం వెలుపల బాలల హక్కుల కోసం నీ గళాన్ని వినిపిస్తావని ఆశిస్తున్నా’’ అని స్మృతిని ఉద్దేశించి సచిన్‌ అన్నాడు.
