NEWSTODAY, PEDDPALLI COLLECTORATE : Life without water is unimaginable. Ax cutting of green trees is damaging the ecological balance. Rainy conditions are prevailing due to the influence of El Nino. Monsoons have moved this year. There is a deficit of rainfall. During winters, we are facing heat all day and night all night. Human survival is possible only if the ecosystem is sustainable. We can avoid the Ennino crisis if we wake up soon.

Odissi If Jala Siri

Ground water is decreasing in the joint district. 2,560 crop fields, 23,479 individual latrines, 2,083 communal latrines, 538 recharge wells/bores have been sanctioned in Jalasiri under the VBGjiranji scheme to overcome the El Nino conditions.. The works are in progress. Farmers are not coming forward for the construction of crop pond. If every drop of water is added to the water, the ground water will grow.

Plastic prevention

The plastic monster is disturbing. About 5 thousand tons of waste is collected in the district on a regular basis. The implementation of single-use plastic ban has stalled. It will take hundreds of years to dissolve in the ground. It is becoming a threat to living organisms. Air pollution is increasing. Industries and rice mills are not erecting high chimneys.

Dwindling water resources

Ummadi district has ground water availability of 2,43,347 hectare. Out of which 1,04,305 ha are being consumed. Godavari, Maneru, Godavari and river catchment areas are getting water with the help of boreholes. 94,588 ha are used for cultivation, 5,190 ha for household purposes and 4,527 ha for industries. 2.78 lakh agricultural motors are running non-stop, causing water wastage.

Concern over forest cover

The joint district has only 1,284.08 sq km of forests out of 9,091.17 sq km of forests. Forests are disappearing due to deforestation. Even though 83 lakh saplings are planted annually in Vana Mahotsava, they are giving air of conservation. Trees are being cut at the same level. Forest area is decreasing due to the construction of projects and industries. If one plant is cut, ten plants will be protected and abundant rains will fall.

It is better to do this

  • Officers should explain the responsibilities of citizens in the conservation of water and forests.
  • Educate about plant cultivation in childhood.. Everyone should be encouraged to plant at least five plants.
  • Bull holes should be constructed in houses and government offices. Waste water should be pumped into the ground.
  • Automatic stators should be fitted to agricultural motors
