ఇ20 పెట్రోల్ చీమలను ఆకర్షిస్తుందంటూ కొందరు సోషల్ మీడియా వేదికగా దుష్ప్రచారం చేయడం తమ దృష్టికి వచ్చిందని కేంద్రం తెలిపింది. 20 శాతం ఇథనాల్ కలిపిన ఇంధనం చీమలను ఆకర్షిస్తుందనడానికి ఎలాంటి శాస్ర్తీయపరమైన ఆధారాల్లేవని పేర్కొంది. ఇ20 ఇథనాల్ను చీమలు ఆకర్షిస్తాయన్న ప్రచారాన్ని ప్రభుత్వరంగ చమురు సంస్థ భారత్ పెట్రోలియం కార్పొరేషన్ లిమిటెడ్ (బీపీసీఎల్) కూడా ఖండించింది. పెట్రోల్ మిశ్రమం కోసం ఉపయోగించే ఫ్యూయల్-గ్రేడ్ ఇథనాల్ ఉత్పత్తి ప్రక్రియలో మిగిలిపోయిన చక్కెరలను తొలగిస్తారని, పైగా ఫ్యూయల్ ఇథనాల్లో కీటకాలను దూరంగా ఉంచే డీనాచురెంట్లు ఉంటాయని పేర్కొంది. అందువల్ల, పెట్రోల్ ట్యాంకుకు చీమలు పడుతున్నాయంటూ జరుగుతున్న ప్రచారానికి ఎలాంటి ఆధారాలూ లేవని కొట్టి పారేసింది. ఇలాంటి అవాస్తవాలను ప్రచారం చేయొద్దని హెచ్చరించింది.

At present, petrol with 20 percent ethanol is available. It has also issued legal permits for the use of 100 percent ethanol. However, the Center has denied the ongoing campaign that the engines are damaged due to the use of E20 petrol. Recently, another campaign has surfaced that ants are falling into the tanks of vehicles filled with E20 petrol. The fact check department of PIB said that this campaign is completely false. The center said that they have come to the notice of some people spreading misinformation on social media that E20 petrol attracts ants. It said there was no scientific evidence that fuel with 20 percent ethanol would attract ants. State-run oil company Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has also denied the campaign that E20 ethanol is attracted to ants. The fuel-grade ethanol used for gasoline blending is said to remove residual sugars from the production process, and fuel ethanol contains denaturants that repel insects. Therefore, it dismissed the campaign that ants are infesting the petrol tank as having no basis. It warned against spreading such untruths.
