Internet Desk: Woman's struggle for pension after father's death for over four decades are doing Officials are refusing to give pension on the ground that there is a single letter difference in the name. Manju Roy's father, who hails from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, worked in the local municipal corporation. Retired in 1975. When he died in 1980.. Till then the pension was coming properly. Later, when the family members applied for family pension, they refused because of the difference in the letter in his name. While his name is recorded as Shikhar Nath Shukla in the service records, the application and other documents show him as Shekhar Nath Shukla. Family pension is not granted with 'I', 'E' distinction. The problem has been going on for 45 years.
With this, Manju Roy filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court. It is stated that there is only one letter difference in the name and an affidavit has also been submitted in this regard. Inheritance certificate and other documents are also attached. The High Court, which heard the petition, ordered the authorities to resolve the issue within a week. Otherwise, the municipal commissioner has warned that the further investigation will have to be attended by himself.
