‘Northeast’.. so special!

AU premises, Newstoday: The Ministry of Regional Development of North Eastern States of the Central Government has decided to create the feeling that today's generations are one even though there are different languages and cultures in the country. From 15th to 28th of last month, Assam capital Guwahati organized a 'Youth Exchange' program at IIT. Andhra University was invited from our state for this. 20 students have been selected from seven colleges under AU who have shown best in rhetoric and NSS. Three of them are tribal students from Paderu area. Flight facility was provided to the coordinators who went with them.

Meeting with the Governor

A total of 40 students along with 20 students from Himachal Pradesh went to Assam state. The students of our state dressed up in Telugu tradition and performed Thimsa dances to impress. Governor of Assam Laxman Prasad Acharya felicitated the students and presented mementos and a book signed by him titled 'The Power of Your Subconscious Mind'.

Allu Ventanagasai, BBA student of Aditya Business School, A-SIB BBA student Dwarapureddy Butchayyanaidu, AU Pharma students came from the city. MSLV Srijana, Viswanathapalli Ravi, AVN College BA student M. Bhuvaneshwari participated.

What was observed.. What was learned..

  • The official language of Assam state is English. Before the British rule, the area was under the Ahom monarchy.
  • Emotional skills and self-confidence increased.
  • If a couple gets married in Meghalaya, the wife's family name applies to the husband. Also, the property of the parents belongs to the girl child.
  • A dish (thali) was prepared together with the students of Himachal Pradesh.
  • Having lunch on a boat in the river Brahmaputra one day was a wonderful experience.
  • The people there use 70 to 80 percent bamboo products. Bamboo is used as herbal medicine. Animals like rhinoceros and red panda are impressive in Pobitora Sanctuary.
