జీవితంలో తీయని అనుబంధం స్నేహం. అందుకే ‘పరమ మిత్రుండున్న బంధువర్గంబేల’ అని అడిదము సూరకవి అన్నాడు. ‘సాధు సంగంబు సకలార్థ సాధనంబు’ అని భర్తృహరి భావిస్తాడు. అన్నమయ్య కూడా ఒక సంకీర్తనలో ‘నారాయణుడు మంచి మనసులున్నవారితో స్నేహం కోరుకుంటాడు’ అని ప్రకటించాడు.
చెలిమిని మించిన కలిమి లేదు. కలిమి లేని కుచేలుడు కృష్ణుడి చెలిమి వల్ల భాగ్యవంతుడయ్యాడు. ఆ మాటకొస్తే ఏ సంపత్తితో నిమిత్తం లేకుండానే బుద్ధిమంతులు మైత్రి ద్వారా స్వకార్యం సాధించుకుంటారు. పంచతంత్రంలోని మిత్రలాభం మొదటి కథే ఇందుకు ఉదాహరణ. కౌరవసభలో ధర్మరాజుకు ఒక్క శత్రువూ కనిపించలేదు. దుర్యోధనుడికి మిత్రుడు కనిపించలేదు. స్నేహ దృష్టితో చూస్తే లోకమంతా సన్నిహితులతోనే నిండి ఉంటుంది. హృదయ కవాటం తెరిచి ఉంచితే.. ఆ ప్రేమ వాటికలోకి నేల ఈనినట్లు ఆప్తులు చొచ్చుకొస్తారు. అందుకే హృదయ కంబానికి పాకే చెలిమి తీగను ద్వేషమనే కొడవలితో తెంచకూడదు.
స్నేహం విలువను తెలిపే అద్భుతమైన కథ ఒకటి గ్రీకు పురాణాల్లో ఉంది. డామన్, పితియస్ అనే ఇద్దరు స్నేహితుల్లో పితియస్ మీద ఏవో ఆరోపణలు వచ్చి మరణశిక్ష పడుతుంది. కొన్ని ముఖ్యమైన పనులు ముగించుకుని వస్తానని గడువివ్వమని అడుగుతాడు. అయితే నీ స్నేహితుణ్ని నీ స్థానంలో ఉంచి వెళ్లమంటాడు ప్రభువు. డామన్ అందుకు అంగీకరించి పితియస్ వచ్చేవరకు జైల్లో ఉంటాడు. వారి స్నేహబంధం చూసి అచ్చెరువొందిన రాజు ఇద్దరినీ విడిచిపెడతాడు. అంతెందుకు... తొలి తెలుగు కావ్యం స్నేహ సంబంధే. భారత రచనలో తనకు అడుగడుగునా మిత్రుడు నారాయణభట్టు తోడ్పాటు అందించినట్లు నన్నయ ప్రస్తుతించాడు. మనిషి ఒక ద్వీపం అయితే ఆ ద్వీపాలను కలిపే తంత్రి స్నేహం. చెలికాడితో మాట్లాడటం అంటే మనతో మనం ముచ్చటించుకున్నట్లే. సన్నిహిత మిత్రుడు రహస్యాలను భద్రంగా దాచుకునే లాకర్తో సమానం. సుఖసంతోషాలను పంచుకునేందుకు అందరూ సిద్ధంగా ఉంటారు కానీ కష్టం, దుఃఖం పంచుకునేది మాత్రం మిత్రుడొక్కడే. శ్రీకృష్ణుడి నిర్యాణం తరవాత అర్జునుడు తాను ప్రియస్నేహితుణ్ని కోల్పోయినట్లు ఆవేదన చెందుతాడు. సప్త సుగుణాలలో స్నేహ సౌఖ్యం ప్రముఖమైందని పెద్దలు చెబుతారు. కాలం గడిచినా స్నేహం మెరుపు తగ్గదు సరికదా ఊరగాయలా రుచి పెరుగుతుంది. ఆస్ట్రియా సామాజిక శాస్త్రవేత్తల పరిశోధనల ప్రకారం, మైత్రీబంధం వల్ల కలిగే ఆత్మానందం మరే బంధం వల్లా పొందలేం. దేహాన్ని ఒక ప్రమిద అనుకుంటే ఆ ప్రమిదలోని దీపం వెలగడానికి స్నేహమనే నూనె అవసరం. సమాజ దీప్తికీ స్నేహదీపమే ఆధారమని రాయప్రోలు భావిస్తారు. స్నేహం కాలాన్ని పట్టించుకోదు. దూరాన్ని మనసు దరికి రానీయదు. జీవితగణితంలో స్నేహం సంతోషాన్ని హెచ్చవేస్తే, దుఃఖాన్ని విభజిస్తుంది. అమృతం సాధించడానికి బద్ధశత్రువులైన దేవదానవులు కలిసి పాలసముద్రాన్ని మధించారు. స్నేహామృతాన్ని సాధించడానికి జాతి, కుల, మత, భాష, ప్రాంతాల అడ్డుగోడలను మనం పడగొట్టలేమా?

- జ్ఞానాయుధం జ్ఞానం మనిషి వికాసానికి మూలాధారం. అది అంధకార మార్గంలో వెలుగులను ప్రకాశింపజేసే దివ్యజ్యోతి. వ్యక్తి ఉనికే ఙ్ఞానం... అంటాడు దక్షిణామూర్తి.
- ఏది హింస? ‘అహింసా పరమోధర్మః’ అన్నారు పెద్దలు. అంటే హింస చేయకుండా ఉండటమే గొప్ప ధర్మమని అర్థం. హింస అంటే శారీరకంగా బాధించడమో, చంపడమో అని మాత్రమే అర్థంకాదు. ఎదుటివారిని మానసికంగా క్షోభకు గురిచేసినా అది హింస కిందకే వస్తుంది. శరీరానికి బాణాలు గుచ్చుకున్నా ఉపాయంతో తీసి వేయవచ్చు, ఆ గాయాలు మందులతో కొంత కాలానికి మానతాయి.
