Eenadu, Amaravati: Union Water Ministry has constituted a committee to discuss and resolve river water issues between two Telugu states. did A total of 12 more members were appointed under the chairmanship of Central Water Commission (CWC). Orders were issued on Friday that it is being set up with the permission of the Secretary of the Union Hydropower Department. This committee was formed in the context of the decisions of the meeting of the CMs of the two states held in Delhi on July 16 last year under the leadership of the Union Minister of Hydropower. In the background of many unresolved water issues between the Telugu states, Chief Ministers Chandrababu and Revanth Reddy met in Delhi under the auspices of the Union Water Power Minister. The water power department decided 10 items as the agenda from those sent by both the states to this meeting which was held in July last year. They were discussed in the meeting.
Debashri Mukherjee, secretary of the Union Hydropower Department, asked to propose names from the two states to get a place in the committee on water issues. Both the states have been delaying to propose names one after the other. The movement in this matter came in the wake of Chief Minister Chandrababu's visit to Delhi to meet the Union Hydropower Minister last month. A letter has been written to the Secretary of Hydropower Department mentioning the names of four persons from Andhra Pradesh. The Center asked to send names from Telangana as well, but that state proposed seven people. However, four people from each state and four from the center have been given place in the committee. The order states that this committee should study water management between the two states with a comprehensive technical perspective and propose feasible solutions and these recommendations should be in line with efficient water supply.
