ఇంటర్నెట్ డెస్క్: భారత్కు చెందిన ఓ విద్యార్థిని ‘బ్రేక్త్రూ జూనియర్ ఛాలెంజ్’లో టాప్-16 అంతర్జాతీయ ఫైనలిస్టుల జాబితాలో నిలిచారు. క్యాన్సర్ చికిత్సకు వినియోగించే ‘కార్-టీ సెల్ థెరపీ’ (CAR-T Cell Therapy)ని అందరికీ సులభంగా అర్థమయ్యే విధంగా వీడియో గేమ్ విధానంలో రూపొందించడం విశేషం. బెంగళూరుకు చెందిన ఇసాబెల్ షిజు.. స్థానికంగా 11వ తరగతి చదువుతున్నారు. గతంలో తనకు తెలిసిన ఓ వ్యక్తి కీమోథెరపీ చేయించుకోవడాన్ని దగ్గరి నుంచి గమనించారు. అదెంత కఠినమో గుర్తించారు.
వైద్యవిద్య చదువుతున్న తన సోదరి నుంచి కార్-టీ సెల్ థెరపీ గురించి తెలుసుకున్నారు. ఈ చికిత్స విధానంలో క్యాన్సర్ కణాలతో పోరాడేందుకు రోగి సొంత రోగనిరోధక కణాలను జన్యుపరంగా మార్పులు చేస్తారు. క్యాన్సర్పై పోరుకు సొంత రోగనిరోధక శక్తిని ఉపయోగించడం తనను ఆకర్షించిందని ఆమె చెప్పారు. దీని గురించి అధ్యయనం చేసి.. ప్రజలకు సులువుగా అర్థమయ్యేలా వీడియో గేమ్ మాదిరి వీడియో రూపొందించారు. క్లిష్టమైన అంశాన్ని రెండు నిమిషాల్లో వివరించడం సవాల్గా నిలిచిందని, మూడు నెలల్లో దాదాపు 40 స్క్రిప్ట్లు రాశానని తెలిపారు.
‘బ్రేక్త్రూ జూనియర్ ఛాలెంజ్’ను 2015లో యూరీ మిల్నర్ అనే శాస్త్రవేత్త ప్రారంభించారు. ఇదొక అంతర్జాతీయ సైన్స్ వీడియోల పోటీ. సంక్లిష్టమైన శాస్త్రీయ అంశాలను సృజనాత్మకంగా వివరించేలా విద్యార్థులను ప్రోత్సహిస్తుంది. ఈ పోటీలో విజేతకు స్కాలర్షిప్, వారి పాఠశాల కోసం పూర్తి సౌకర్యాలతో కూడిన సైన్స్ ల్యాబ్ ఏర్పాటు సహా మొత్తం రూ.3.59 కోట్లు (4 లక్షల డాలర్లు) విలువైన ప్రైజ్మనీ అందజేస్తారు. ఈ ఏడాది ఛాలెంజ్లో టాప్-16 అంతర్జాతీయ ఫైనలిస్టుల జాబితాలో భారత్ తరఫున ఏకైక విద్యార్థినిగా షిజు నిలిచారు. విజేతను త్వరలో ప్రకటించనున్నారు.
