అస్సాంలోని కర్బీ అంగ్లాంగ్ జిల్లాలో మళ్లీ హింస కొనసాగుతోంది. ప్రభుత్వ భూముల్లో అక్రమంగా నివసిస్తున్న వారిని ఖాళీ చేయాలని కొన్ని అల్లరి మూకలు గువాహాటికి సమీపంలో ఉన్న ఖైరోనీ (Kheroni)లో దుకాణాలు, వాహనాలను దగ్ధం చేశారు. ఈ క్రమంలోనే ఇరు వర్గాల మధ్య ఘర్షణలు మొదలయ్యాయి. పరిస్థితి అదుపు చేయడానికి పోలీసులు టియర్ గ్యాస్ ఉపయోగించారు. దీంతో రెచ్చిపోయిన అల్లరి మూక పోలీసులపై రాళ్లు, బాంబులు, బాణాలతో ఎటాక్ చేశారు.
ఈ ఘటనలో దివ్యాంగుడైన సురేశ్ దేయ్(25), అతిక్ తిముంగ్లు మృతి చెందగా, 45 మంది తీవ్రంగా గాయపడ్డారు. గాయపడ్డ వారిలో 38 మంది పోలీసులు ఉన్నారు. వీరిలో ఒక ఐపీఎస్ అధికారి ఉన్నాడు. వారిని వెంటనే ఆస్పత్రికి తరలించారు. అల్లర్లు మరింత ప్రబలిపోకుండా ఉండేందుకు ముందస్తు జాగ్రత్త చర్యగా కర్బీ అంగ్లాగ్, పశ్చిమ కర్బీ అంగ్లాంగ్ లో ఇంటర్నెట్ సేవలు నిలిపివేశారు అధికారులు.
