Medaram: Medaram Merisela... Jatara Murisela!

Today, Warangal: The state government has undertaken to organize Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma Maha Jatara with a new look. It is expected that more than one crore devotees from Telangana and neighboring states will flock to the fair to be held from January 28 to 31 next year. This time the government has focused on permanent structures along with the temporary facilities that are always provided. The development of Medaram has been started with an unprecedented cost of Rs.251 crores. The expansion of the nymphs' gardens will be a special attraction. 101 crores are being spent on these works alone.

There are many special features in the reconstruction..

The Gaddela premises are being reconstructed with stone to be as strong as the historical buildings. The rampart will have an area of ​​271 square meters with 46 pillars. Between these there are three 40 feet wide and five 30 feet wide welcoming arches. There is a 50 feet wide main welcome arch in front of the courtyard. Pagiddaraju and Govindaraju paddies are being changed into a row with Sammakka-Saralamma paddies. This arrangement is being made so that all the devotees go for darshan in a row. 8 pillars surround the circular pad, with bamboo bongs in the middle. 

Adivasi Culture on Rocks

The history of the Koya tribe in the palm leaves is carved as symbols and figures on the walls of the courtyard. For this, the white colored stones are moved from Rayachoti of Annamaiya district in Andhra Pradesh to Allagadda in Nandyala district and after being carved by sculptors, they are brought to Medara. 59 figures depicting the history of the Sammakka family are carved on the main welcome arch. Sammakkadi Rai Bandani is the 5th Gottu clan. Their house deity is a one-horned moose.. Wild plow horns on both sides and peacock feathers are carved on the top of the arch. On the rest of the rocks 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, the history of the Gottula tribe, the animals they worshiped and their lifestyle are carved. It is said that there are seven thousand dolls related to the names of around 750 Koya clans. 250 sculptors worked under Dr. Hariprasad. Imani Shivanagi Reddy and Dr. Motilal are supervising the institutes. 15 students of Sammakka-Saralamma Archeology Research Institute helped in designing these images. Dr. Maipati Arun, the founder of the research center said that this is their 15 years of hard work.

Development works have been undertaken without removing the trees near the Gaddela premises. After the reconstruction, 12 types of trees like bandari, banyan, bamboo, buruga, neem, ippa, kastu and 140 types of Ayurvedic plants will be planted. 

Narrow roads and bridges were widened on the way to Medaram. Two-lane roads in villages have been converted into four-lane roads. Drainage and CC roads were built locally. The roads leading to Jampanna brook were developed and the banks of the brook were beautified. Additional substations are being set up for uninterrupted power supply. Outside the courtyard, there are culines and they will be roofed with petals. 

As per the responsibilities assigned by CM Revanth Reddy.. Warangal district in-charge minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy is often inspecting the work and conducting reviews with the officials. The work is ordered to be completed quickly. Ministers Sitakka and Surekha are also inspecting the works from time to time.
