Kohir: A Dalit belonging to Sajjapur village of Kohir mandal of Sangareddy district blocked the construction of his house and demolished the petal shed because he did not vote for his mother in the Gram Panchayat elections. State SC and ST Commission Chairman Bakki Venkataiah responded after receiving a complaint about this incident. He visited Sajjapur village on Wednesday along with ZP CEO Janaki Reddy.
Begari Ramulu of the village has started work to build a house on his land (next to the rural nature forest). A notice was issued to the Rams on the 16th of this month because they had taken up the construction across the village nature forest road without taking the Panchayat's permission. As Ramulu did not respond, on the 22nd of this month (Monday), with the help of staff, police and JCB, they removed the basement of the house and the leaf shed there. Due to this, the family members of the victims alleged that Sarpanchi's son Prasad Reddy was abusing them in this way because they could not vote. The victims met former minister Harish Rao on Tuesday regarding this matter. The former minister who responded spoke to the district SP and the chairman of the commission.
Commission Chairman who came to the village on Wednesday in this regard spoke to the victim Ramulu and his family members and inquired about the details. He assured that an investigation will be conducted and legal action will be taken against everyone responsible for the incident of demolishing the petal shed, which obstructed the construction of the house. They will see that a house with all facilities will be built in place of the demolished house with the help of the government. He made it clear that attacks on Dalits will not be tolerated. DLPO Amrita, Tehsildar Supriya, MPO Venkata Reddy were present in the program.
