Sirisilla Collectorate, December 23 (Andhra Jyoti) : In-charge Collector Garima Agrawal has directed the concerned officials to implement a strict action plan to control narcotics in the district. A district level narcotic control meeting was held with the concerned officials along with SP Mahesh B Gite on the measures taken to control narcotics and drugs in the district on Tuesday at Sirisilla Collectorate. In the district narcotic control meeting, issues such as NDPS cases being registered in the district, measures to prevent the cultivation of ganja, department-wise programs to be undertaken to prevent the use of drugs, and widespread campaign on the harm caused by drug use were discussed. Later, the in-charge collector Garima Agrawal said that the officials of different departments should work in coordination to control drugs. It is advised to take strong measures to prevent drug trafficking and cultivation. He ordered to take steps to identify drug addicts and provide necessary treatment and counselling. The forest department officials should inspect the forest lands under their jurisdiction and inform the police officials immediately if any cannabis cultivation is found. It is suggested to check the stock details of hospitals and medical stores in the district every month. He said that bad habits will damage the sixth gyam. Speaking to SP Mahesh Bee, he said that extensive inspections are being conducted to prevent cultivation along with ganja and at the same time, wide publicity is being done on the harm caused by drugs and ganja. They said that the suppliers are being caught from those who have tested positive for ganja like a drunken drive. Sirisilla RDO Venkateshwarlu, Vemulawada RDO Radhabai, Municipal Commissioners Khadir Pasha, Anvesh, District Medical Officer Dr. Rajitha, District Agriculture Officer Afzalbegam, Excise Officer Srinivasa Rao, Labor Department Officer Nazir Ahmed and Forest Department officials participated in the meeting.
