తెనాలి:ఐపీఎల్లో అరంగేట్రం మ్యాచ్లోనే అద్భుతమైన వికెట్తో సంచలనం సృష్టించిన తెలుగు యువ క్రికెటర్ యర్రా పృథ్వీరాజ్ గాయాలతో రెండు సీజన్ల విరామం తర్వాత పునరాగమనం చేశాడు. దేశవాళీ క్రికెట్లో అద్భుతమైన సత్తాను చాటిన ఈ ఎడంచేతి ఫాస్ట్ బౌలర్ను తాజా ఐపీఎల్ వేలంలో గుజరాత్ టైటాన్ రూ.30 లక్షలకు దక్కించుకుంది. ఐపీఎల్ నుంచి టీమిండియాకు ఆడాలన్న కలను ఈసారి నెరవేర్చుకోవాలనే పట్టుదలతో ఉన్న ఈ యువతేజం వివరాల్లోకి వెళితే...పృథ్వీరాజ్ జన్మస్థలం తెనాలి సమీపంలోని దుగ్గిరాల. తల్లి జంపాల కృష్ణకుమారి విశాఖపట్నంలోని ఏపీఈపీడీసీఎల్లో జూనియర్ అకౌంట్స్ అధికారిగా రిటైరయ్యారు. తండ్రి యర్రా శ్రీనివాసరావు సివిల్ ఇంజినీరు, ప్రభుత్వ కాంట్రాక్టరు. తల్లి ఉద్యోగరీత్యా విశాఖలో పెరిగిన పృథ్వీరాజ్ ప్రస్తుతం అక్కడే ఇంజినీరింగ్ చేశాడు. 2011 నుంచి ఆంధ్ర క్రికెట్ అసోసియేషన్ నుంచి జట్టుకు వివిధ విభాగాల్లో ఆడుతూ వచ్చాడు. తండ్రికి కజిన్ అయిన ఆంధ్రా యూనివర్సిటీ హెచ్ఓడీ, డైరెక్టర్ ఆఫ్ ఫిజికల్ ఎడ్యుకేషన్ ప్రొఫెసర్ ఎన్.విజయమోహన్ తొలి గురువు. క్రికెట్లో ఓనమాలు నేర్పారాయన. ఇప్పటికీ పృథ్వీరాజ్ శిక్షణను ఆయనే పర్యవేక్షిస్తున్నారు.
తండ్రి వారసత్వంగా క్రికెట్పై ఆసక్తి...
పృథ్వీరాజ్ కు ఆట వారసత్వం అనుకోవచ్చు. తాత ప్రసాదరావు పహిల్వాన్. తండ్రి యర్రా శ్రీనివాసరావు స్వస్థలం చీరాల. బాపట్లలో ఇంజినీరింగ్ కాలేజీలో చదివేటపుడు క్రీడల్లో యాక్టివ్గా ఉన్నారు. రెండేళ్లు కాలేజీ చాంపియన్. 1985లో గుంటూరు జిల్లా అండర్–19 క్రికెట్ జట్టులో ఆడారు. 1986లో జావలిన్ త్రోలో బంగారు పతకం సాధించారు. ఈ నేపథ్యమే పృథ్వీరాజ్కు క్రికెట్పై ఆసక్తిని కలిగించింది. విజయమోహన్ వ్యక్తిగత శిక్షణలో సాధన ఆరంభించి, విజయశిఖరాలను అధిరోహిస్తూ వచ్చాడు. 2011 నుంచి ఆంధ్ర క్రికెట్ అసోసియేషన్కు అండర్–14 నుంచి వివిధ వయసు విభాగాల్లో ప్రాతినిధ్యం వహిస్తూ వచ్చారు. రాష్ట్ర విభజన తర్వాత ఏపీ స్కూల్స్ జాతీయ పోటీలకు ఆడిన జట్టుకు కెప్టెన్ గా చేశాడు.
19 ఏళ్లకే దేశవాళీ క్రికెట్లోకి...
2017 అక్టోబరులో 19 ఏళ్ల వయసులో రంజీ ట్రోఫీకి ఎంపికైన పృథ్వీరాజ్ రెండు మ్యాచ్ల్లో పన్నెండు వికెట్లు తీసి సత్తా చాటాడు. 2018 జులైలో బీసీసీఐ ఆధ్వర్యంలో జాతీయ క్రికెట్ అకాడమీ నిర్వహించే ఇండియన్ స్పెషలిస్ట్ ఫాస్ట్ బౌలర్స్ క్యాంప్కు ఇండియా నుంచి ఏడుగురిని ఎంపిక చేయగా, అందులో పృథ్వీరాజ్ కు అవకాశం దక్కింది. అక్కడ శిక్షణ అనంతరం ప్రతిష్టాత్మకమైన దులీప్ ట్రోపీలో ఇండియా రెడ్ టీమ్కు ఆడాడు. 2018 అక్టోబరులో బీసీసీఐ విజయ్ హజారే ట్రోఫీకి నేరుగా క్వార్టర్ ఫైనల్స్కు ఆడి, హైదరాబాద్పై రెండు వికెట్లు తీశాడు. 2019లో వన్డేలోనే ప్రొఫెసర్ ధియోధర్ ట్రోఫీకి ఆడారు. అదే ఏడాది డిసెంబరులో రంజీ ట్రోఫీలో రెండు మ్యాచ్లు ఆడి తొమ్మిది వికెట్లు తీశాడు.
వార్నర్ వికెట్తో సంచలనం
అక్కడ్నుంచి పృథ్వీరాజ్ పయనం ప్రతిష్టాకరమైన ఐపీఎల్కు చేరింది. వేలంలో కేకేఆర్ యాజమాన్యం కొనుగోలు చేసినప్పటికీ తుది 11 మంది జట్టులో స్థానం కల్పించలేదు. హైదరాబాద్తో మ్యాచ్తోనే జట్టులో బెర్త్ దక్కింది. అందులో మొదటి, మూడో ఓవర్లో పృథీ్వరాజ్ బౌలింగ్లో రెండు క్యాచ్లను జారవిడిచారు. అయినప్పటికీ మెయిడెన్ వికెట్గా వార్నర్ను బౌల్డ్ చేయడంతో వార్తల్లోకెక్కాడు, అంతకుముందు ఫిబ్రవరి 28న మూలపాడులో జరిగిన బీసీసీఐ సయ్యద్ ముస్తాఫ్ఆలీ టీ20 టోర్నమెంటులో జార్ఖండ్పై నాలుగు ఓవర్లలో 28 పరుగులిచ్చి 3 వికెట్లు తీశాడు. ఇంగ్లండ్లో జరిగిన వరల్డ్ టెస్ట్ చాంపియన్షిప్కు నెట్ బౌలర్గా పృథీ్వరాజ్, కోల్కతా నుంచి ఆకాశ్దీప్ను సెలక్టర్లు ఎంపిక చేశారు. తర్వాత ఆకాశ్దీప్ ఇండియా జట్టుకు అన్ని ఫార్మట్లలోనూ ఆడారు. సెలక్షన్స్ టైములో గాయాల కారణంగా అవకాశం కోల్పోయాడు.
రంజీ ట్రోఫీల్లో సత్తా
మళ్లీ గత రెండు సీజన్లలోనూ దేశవాళీ క్రికెట్లో రెడ్ బాల్, వైట్ బాల్లోనూ సత్తా చాటుతున్నాడు. 2023లో రంజీ ట్రోఫీ క్వార్టర్ ఫైనల్స్లో మధ్యప్రదేశ్పై రెండు ఇన్నింగ్స్లో ఏడు వికెట్లు తీసి మ్యాన్ ఆఫ్ ది మ్యాచ్ అందుకున్నా, ఆంధ్ర జట్టు ఓటమి చెందింది. గతేడాది విజయ్ హజారే ట్రోఫీలో మూడు మ్యాచ్లు ఆడి ఏడు వికెట్లు తీశాడు. రెండు రంజీ ట్రోఫీల్లో పది వికెట్లను తన ఖాతాలో వేసుకున్నాడు పృథ్వీరాజ్. 2025–26 సీజన్ తొలి దశ రంజీట్రోఫీలో మూడు మ్యాచ్ల్లో తొమ్మిది వికెట్లు తీశాడు. సయ్యద్ ముస్తాక్ ఆలీ ట్రోఫీ టీ20లో ఆంధ్ర జట్టు తరఫున ఆడిన తొమ్మిది మ్యాచ్లో ఏడు పరుగుల సగటుతో 12 వికెట్లు తీయటం మరో ప్రత్యేకత.

ఎడమ చేతివాటం ఫాస్ట్ బౌలింగ్ పృథ్వీరాజ్ ప్రత్యేకత. 145–150 కి.మీ. వేగంతో బౌల్ చేయటం, బంతిని రెండువైపులా స్వింగ్ చేయటం, మెరుపుల్లాంటి బౌన్సర్లు వేయగల నేర్పు ఉన్నాయి. ఆంధ్రా క్రికెట్ అసోసియేషన్లో ప్రముఖ శిక్షకుడు సీడీ థాంప్సన్ మెలకువలు నేర్చారు. ఈ ప్రత్యేకతలతోనే గాయాలతో కొన్ని సీజన్లు వైట్బాల్కు దూరంగా ఉన్నా, మళ్లీ ఘనంగా గుజరాత్ టైటాన్తో పునరాగమనం చేయగలిగాడు పృథీ్వరాజ్. గుజరాత్ టైటాన్ జట్టు ఆడిన తొలి ఐపీఎల్లోనే కప్ను గెలుచుకుందనీ, ఆ జట్టులో ఆటతో టీమిండియాకు ఆడే రోజులు త్వరలోనే వస్తాయని ఆశిస్తున్నాడు.
