Manchiryala, December 20 (Andhra Jyoti): Independents contested in panchayat elections and won as sarpanches. Are the ousted leaders preparing to join the Congress party...? The answer is yes. Currently, this issue is becoming a hot topic of discussion across the district. It is known that panchayat elections were conducted in three phases in the district. In the first release, elections were held in Hajipur, Lakshettipet, Dandepalli and Khanapur constituencies of Jannaram mandals under Manchiryala assembly constituency. In the second phase, it was conducted in Tandur, Bellampally, Nennela, Vemanapally, Bhimini, Kannepally and Kasipeta mandals under Bellampally constituency. As part of the third phase, it was held in Kotapalli, Chennur, Bhimaram, Jaipur and Mandamarri mandals under Chennur constituency. Elections were held in all 302 panchayats under the respective mandals, but elections were not held in four other panchayats namely Gudem, Nelki Venkatapur, Vanduruguda and Rajaram villages of Vemanapalli mandal as reservations were not applicable. In the panchayat elections held in the respective mandals, there are 49 people who contested as sarpanchs independently.

Many of them belong to Congress. Many people who have been working in the Congress party for many years and with the support of that party wanted to enter the sarpanch ring have lost that opportunity due to some unavoidable reasons. At the last moment, as Congress did not get support, dozens of candidates entered the fray as independents. The main leaders of the Congress do not have faith in such people, or because others think they are strong candidates, others from the same party have been given a chance in the elections. However, with the courage of Mokkavoni, they contested the elections as Congress rebels and won. It is noteworthy that many of those who entered the ring as rebels belong to the Congress party. Now it seems that all of them are determined to go back to their parent company.

To contribute to the development of the villages...

There are 49 people who contested and won as independent candidates in the three vacant Sarpanch elections held in the district. Among them, the lion's share of sarpanches are said to be preparing to join the Congress party and are holding discussions with the MLAs of the respective constituencies. While a majority of people have decided to continue with the party they have worked for so far, even those who have not been associated with any party so far are preparing to run with the ruling party. He has already been in touch with all the MLAs but it is reliable information that he will join the Congress after the oath taking process is over on 22nd of this month. Meanwhile, the villages should be led on the path of development in order not to lose the trust of the people who voted for them with confidence. Funds are the main source for that. It is being spread that the Sarpanchs who won independently want to join the Congress, thinking that if they are in the opposition, they will not get proper funds, and if they join the ruling party, they will have the opportunity to bring enough funds by working under the MLAs. But it seems that the MLAs are putting the demands of giving proper recognition to themselves and contributing to the development of villages.

It seems that the MLAs are also thinking of joining the sarpanchs who have the support of the people to strengthen the party at the village level. Thus, they feel that they need to increase their strength from the village level. On the other hand, the government is preparing to conduct MPTC and ZPTC elections soon. In order to win more seats in that election, the need for sarpanches is going to be mandatory for MLAs. For this purpose, it seems that efforts are being made to include those who have won independently.
