Hyderabad, December 19 (Andhra Jyoti): If the investigation in the phone tapping case is to go ahead... the main accused in this, former SIB chief Prabhakar Rao should open his mouth. For that to happen, competent authorities must step in. With this in mind, the government has strengthened the Special Investigation Team (SIT). It is known that Prabhakar Rao did not cooperate with the authorities during the seven-day custody, and as a result, DGP Shivdhar Reddy issued orders to continue the investigation under the supervision of Hyderabad CP Sajjanar, giving new instructions to the SIT. The government has taken a decision to this extent after realizing that many links have been left incomplete in the investigation so far in the case and there are loopholes in the investigation. However, it seems that the government has come to the view that the officials in the SIT team have been treated with some lenient attitude as they are juniors. That is why it seems that along with senior IPS officers, officers with expertise in various aspects have been entrusted with the responsibilities. It is reported that by including more than nine officers in the team, there will be an opportunity to examine the case from various angles and take a collective decision. At present, the investigation of the phone tapping case is going on mainly in two aspects. Why was the digital evidence of the taping destroyed? It is a matter of whose orders this decision was taken. Why permission was taken for tapping the phone numbers of journalists, politicians, judges and prominent people in the name of Maoists? Who said to do this? The second aspect is how the information is provided to the informants after the taping. DSP Praneethrao, who committed this crime, has already admitted that it was the then SIB chief Prabhakar Rao who ordered the destruction of the digital evidence in the SIB office.

Who gave those orders? He is reported to have said that he did as the superiors told him. However, it seems that when the boss of the intelligence department, who served as a superior to Prabhakar Rao at that time, was asked for an explanation on this matter, he gave a different answer. Currently, there are chances that the new SIT team will look into this matter seriously. On the other hand, in relation to this case, who ordered the tapping of the phone numbers of the then leader of the opposition, today's Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, his family members and close friends as well as the phone numbers of other leaders? The SIT team could not succeed in this regard. Therefore, the main challenge before the new SIT is to gather sufficient evidence to open the mouth of Prabhakar Rao, who is under investigation. As DGP Shivdhar Reddy set a deadline to overcome this and uncover the conspiracy, it seems that the SIT can move forward aggressively. He is a technology expert. Ritiraj is likely to be an asset to the SIT in identifying the legal loopholes in the case and how the accused used them. Maheshwaram DCP Narayana Reddy, Ravinder Reddy, KS Rao, CH Sridhar and Nagender Rao in the investigation team have a good track record and they have been included in the SIT team due to the cases they have solved in the past. Similarly, it is reported that ACP Venkatagiri, who has been investigating this case since the beginning, is expected to continue as he will be able to give the necessary sketch to solve the case. At present, although the Supreme Court has given an order to extend the custody of Prabhakar Rao for another seven days, it seems that they are thinking of seeking an extension for more days if necessary.
