Chintapalli, Newstoday: Coffee. Coffee crop has the honor of coming to Alluri district as a guest crop and completely changing the lifestyle of the tribals. It has a hundred years of history behind it. A Central Coffee Research Station was established in 1925 at Balahennur, Chikmagalur, Karnataka State for scientific research on coffee in the country. It will complete one hundred years by December 2025. On this occasion, scientists and officers of Central Coffee Board's research expansion and teaching department are making necessary arrangements to organize the CCRI centenary celebrations for three days. These will be held at CCRI from 20th to 22nd of this month.
- About 2.50 lakh acres of coffee is cultivated in Alluri district. More than 1.35 lakh families depend on this for their livelihood. 75 percent of the tribals' main source of income is coffee. The value of seeds grown annually by Giri farmers is Rs.150 to 200 crores. Tribal farmers produce more than 18,000 tons of crops annually in Alluri district.]

Sunil Babu, head of the research center said, 'We are creating awareness among coffee farmers.'
