Various departments on Thursday gave a PowerPoint presentation to the government on the drought situation in the state and proposed several alternatives. According to the details..

The Godavari basin has reserves of 96.0 tmc against 145.7 tmc against a deficit of 34 per cent. As the storage in Singur fell to 3.92 TMC, an alternative plan was prepared at a cost of Rs 84.14 crore to move additional pumps. It is proposed that measures should be taken to ensure adequate reserves for drinking water needs for a year in all reservoirs, adequate water reserves in ponds for cattle, and a fund of Rs. crore should be made available at each district collector for emergency water supply.
HighDrinking water is being supplied to 1.30 crore people through 14.5 lakh Nalla connections within Darabad metropolis. By December this year, there will be a supply shortfall in Singur and Manjira and it is estimated that 3 lakh connections will be affected and proposals are being prepared for the approval of nine alternative plans with a cost of Rs 57.55 crore.
