Neha Bora Bangladesh row: BJP accuses her

Neha Bora Bangladesh row: BJP accuses her

New Delhi:Student leader Neha Bora (29) claims that the Bangladesh movement is the inspiration for the youth-led protests in India. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized her comments. BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his supporters that the aim is not only political opposition but to change the government in the country. To this extent, on October 14, a video related to her comments was shared on social media X. The video was described as a threat to Indian democracy.

Neha Bora compared to Bangladesh Movement
Neha Bora is studying for her doctorate in the Department of Arts and Aesthetics at Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University. In an interview she mentioned that the youth movement in India first started in Bangladesh. "The Genji movement that we are seeing all over this country first started in Bangladesh. Congratulations to you for showing us the way and showing solidarity to the youth of this country.

Bora stated that there are struggles for the protection of democracy and voting rights in India and Bangladesh. He accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and explained that there are protests in India demanding his resignation. He said that Indian youth is also fighting in the same way as the struggle against religious fundamentalism in Bangladesh. The people of both countries aspired to work together for a better South Asia and a better world.

BJP Criticism of Rahul Gandhi
Bhandari accused Rahul Gandhi and Congress factions of undermining India's constitution and democracy while referring to Neha Bora's comments. He criticized that they want to bring about a change of power in India as happened in Bangladesh. Everyone who believes in democracy has been called to oppose Rahul Gandhi.

The then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had to step down on August 5, 2024 after student-led protests in Bangladesh led to nationwide unrest. Comparing these developments with the current Indian political protests has become the center of the latest controversy.

Neha Bora in the opposition protests
This week, Neha Bora.. participated in the protest demonstration of the leaders of the India Alliance which marched towards the Supreme Court demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar. Rahul Gandhi said that all the agitations are part of one movement. He said that he will support all those who come forward to protect the Constitution. Neha Bora has also participated in the protests over alleged leakage of examination papers in the past.

Her speeches at Jantar Mantar have been widely circulated on social media. She was detained by the police several times and released during the protests demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar. The BJP's accusations against Neha Bora's comments have intensified the political conflict between the ruling and opposition parties. However, the two sides' responses to the controversy will become crucial in the political debate as Bora's claims of protection of democratic rights and BJP's alleged goal of power change are different arguments.
