Air, water and noise pollution are known to everyone. These are external pollutants that are visible to the eye. Governments and voluntary organizations are working hard for their prevention and cleansing. From time to time people are getting conscious. One is the most dangerous of all. That is emotional pollution. It is accumulating in the minds of people. Emotional pollution is... turning good people into bad ones.
Thoughts determine what we do. Our feelings affect how we think. But in today's modern era, our environment, people, friends, education, media, social media, political parties etc. determine our feelings. Our actions are governed by our desires without reason. Forming opinions without using our discretion. There are many things that are not reasonable in them. The invisible emotion is more harmful than the visible external pollution. The antidote to this, which is increasing in people's minds by the moment, is to cleanse themselves voluntarily. If man does not become addicted to emotional pollution, he can avoid any external pollution which is harmful to health. Otherwise, it is a danger both inside and outside.
If all human beings live righteously and with commitment, there is no need to be subject to emotional pollution. To live righteously is to not do to others what others do to oneself that is offensive to oneself. Mahabharata says that it is Paramdharma. If everyone follows Dharma there will be no pollution in the society. Selfishness in man also leads to emotional pollution. Today, the philosophy of living with me, mine and my happiness as the goal is very common among people. Careless attitude towards peers and society is increasing. These are the root causes of emotional pollution. Selfishness is prevailing, if it interferes with self-happiness and self-interest, it will end up killing everyone. The emotional pollution in humans is reaching its peak. Due to this, godliness is weakening. Corruption, injustice, illegalities, crimes are increasing exponentially. There is no harm in not doing good to others, at least in not harming others, humanity has degraded to the level of doing good. And where do we look for divinity?
'Selflessness is divinity. Swami Vivekananda said that this is the first lesson that every human born should learn.
