Karnataka all rounder K. Gowtham calls time on his cricketing career, announcing retirement from all formats

IPL Cricketer and Karnataka spin bowling all-rounder Krishnappa Gautham has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket today (December 22). The 37-year-old Gautham, who is a right-handed off-spinner-cum-batter, has played only one ODI for Team India in 2021. Since then, Gautham, who did not get another chance, was limited to domestic cricket and IPL.

Gautham has a good track record in first class cricket. He played 32 matches for Karnataka and took 116 wickets. He also scored a century and 2 half-centuries. Gautham has a mediocre record in List-A cricket. He took 51 wickets in 32 matches and scored 400 runs with the help of a half century. Gautham, who played 49 matches in the short format, took 32 wickets and scored 454 runs with the help of 2 half-centuries.

Gautham got the most expensive opportunity in IPL. Gautham, who made his debut for Mumbai Indians in 2017, was signed by CSK for the 2021 season for Rs. 9.25 crores and acquired it. This was the biggest amount for an uncapped player at that time. In his IPL career, Gautham played for Mumbai Indians, CSK, Rajasthan Royals (2018) and Lucknow Supergiants (2022-24). He played a total of 36 matches and took 21 wickets.
