District Collectors have been appointed as person in charge of DCCBs of these nine districts. They will hold office for a period of six months or until the elections are over. Collectors will act as interim administrators till the completion of DCCB elections.
Reorganization
Government has decided to undertake reorganization of banks in accordance with the formation of new districts. Authorities believe that this move will increase transparency and efficiency in the cooperative banking system. DCCBs providing services to farmers, cooperative societies and rural economy will be restructured according to new districts.
The government's decision to take this decision clearly shows the government's intention to maintain strong control over the co-operative sector. Analysts point out that the appointment of collectors will temporarily reduce political influence and increase administrative control. This decision will have an impact on farmers, cooperatives and rural economy. DCCBs will be headed by the Collectors till the reorganization of the banks as per the new districts is completed.
