Delhi: 'Vikasit Bharat Guarantee' President Draupadi Murmu (Droupadi Murmu) approved the 'For Livelihood and Livelihood Mission (Grameen)' (VB-G Ramji) Bill. This bill became law. It is known that the Center has brought this bill with the intention of providing work to the needy in rural areas for 125 days in a year. It was brought in place of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), which had previously guaranteed 100 days of work.

This bill was approved by both the Houses amid opposition protests in the recently held winter session. The opposition has protested in both the Houses saying that it is undemocratic to pass bills in a hurry without giving enough time. They raised the agitation that it is not right to repeal the 'Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme' (Engineeraga) Act, which has been in force for two decades. They went to the speaker's place in the Lok Sabha and tore up the copies of the bill and threw them away. Union Minister Chouhan has explained to the opposition that the bill was prepared after a deep discussion with the intention of providing permanent assets and not just spending Rs.10-11 lakh crores on salaries of labourers.
