ఉత్తరప్రదేశ్లోకి వారణాసికి చెందిన ఆమెపై 1965లో యాసిడ్ దాడి జరిగింది. బట్టల వ్యాపారంలో ఉన్న అసూయ కారణంగా కొంతమంది ప్రత్యర్థులు రాత్రి 2 గంటల సమయంలో దాడి చేశారు. యాసిడ్ అంటే ఏంటో కూడా తెలియని 12 ఏళ్ల వయసులో ఆమె నరకం అనుభవించింది. ఆరేళ్లపాటు ఆసత్పికే పరిమితం అయింది. ఒకటీ రెండు కాదు ఏకంగా 37 ఆపరేషన్లు .అందమైన మొహం అందవికారమైంది. మరోవైపు సమాజం సూటిపోటీ మాటలు. దీంతోచదువు కొనసాగించ లేకపోయింది. సంగీతం ఉన్న మక్కువతో ఇంట్లోనే ఉండి సంగీతం నేర్చుకుంది.
సూసైడ్ చేసుకుందామనుకుంది
బయటకు వెళ్ళినప్పుడు సూటిపోటి మాటలు వ్యంగ్య వ్యాఖ్యలు వినేదానినని మంగళ కపూర్ గతంలో చెప్పారు. పాఠశాలలో పిల్లలు ఆమెను చూసి భయపడేవారట. కొన్నిసార్లు ఆమెను ఎగతాళి కూడా చేసేవారు. 'ముక్కులేనిది' అని వెక్కిరించేవారు. దీంతో ఆమె చాలాసార్లు ఆత్మహత్య చేసుకోవాలని కూడా అనుకుంది. కానీ జీవితంలో ఒక లక్ష్యాన్ని నిర్దేశించుకుని, ముందుకు సాగాలని, వెనక్కి తిరిగితే మరింత బలహీనుమవుతామని చెప్పే తండ్రి గుర్తుకు వచ్చేవారట దీంతో మరింత ఆత్మవిశ్వాసంతో అడుగులు వేయడం అలవాటుగా మారిపోయింది. అలా దూరవిద్యలో పీజీ, తర్వాత మెరిట్ స్కాలర్ షిప్తో బనారస్ హిందూ విశ్వవిద్యాలయం సంగీతం, కళల విభాగంలో పీహెచ్డీ పూర్తి చేశారు. అక్కడే శాస్త్రీయ సంగీత న ప్రొఫెసర్గా నియమితుల య్యారు.
సంగీత కచేరీలను ప్రారంభించారు. మంగళ స్వరమాధుర్యానికి అందరూ ముగ్ధులయ్యేవారు పెద్ద సంఖ్యలో ప్రజలు తరలి వచ్చేవారు. దేశంలో ఆమె కార్యక్రమాలు నిర్వహించని మూల లేదు అంటే అతిశయోక్తి కాదు. సంగీత ప్రపంచంలో ఆమె గాత్రం ఎంతో ఆదరణ పొందింది. అటు టీచర్గా అనేకమంది విద్యార్థులకు సంగీత జ్ఞానాన్ని అందించారు. అందుకే ఆమెను "కాశీ లతా మంగేష్కర్" అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు. ఆమె కృషికి, అంకిత భావానికి అనేక అవార్డులు వచ్చి వరించాయి. తరంగ్ ఫౌండేషన్ ఆమెకు "కాశీ లత" బిరుదును ప్రదానం చేయగా, రాజ్యసభ ఆమెకు "రోల్ మోడల్" అవార్డును ప్రదానం చేసింది. తాజాగా భారతీయ శాస్త్రీయ సంగీతానికి ఆమె చేసిన సేవకు ,స్ఫూర్తిదాయకమైన పోరాట ప్రస్థానానికి గాను, కళారంగంలో 2026 ఏడాదికి పద్మశ్రీ పురస్కారాన్ని ప్రకటించడం విశేషం.

A native of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, there was an acid attack on her in 1965. Due to jealousy in the clothing business, some rivals attacked at 2 am. She wanted to commit suicide

But I remember my father who told me to set a goal in life and move forward, if I turn back I will become weaker, so it has become a habit to take steps with more confidence. So he completed PG in distance education and then PhD in music and arts department of Banaras Hindu University with merit scholarship. There he was appointed as a professor of classical music.
Music concerts started. A large number of people used to flock to the melody of Mangala. It is no exaggeration to say that there is no corner in the country where she does not organize events. Her voice is very popular in the music world. As a teacher, he imparted musical knowledge to many students. Hence she is also known as "Kashi Lata Mangeshkar".
