Peddapallytown, December 22 (Andhra Jyoti): CPI district secretary Tandra Sadananda said that changing the name of Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme to Jiranji Employment Scheme is wrong. In protest against this, copies of the Act were burnt at the Ambedkar statue at the bus stand on Monday. He said that Mahatma Gandhi's National Employment Guarantee Scheme was introduced with the intention of providing employment to the poor workers through the National Employment Guarantee Act when the left wing representatives were ministers in the UPA government.
He criticized the Modi government at the Center for changing its name and doing religious politics and conspiring to harm the sovereignty of the country by dragging God into politics. He asked what was the motive behind changing the name of Mahatma Gandhi.
