Panaji:BJP has won the Goa Zilla Panchayat Elections 2025. It became the single largest party by winning 30 out of 50 seats. Congress party won 8 seats and independent candidates 5 seats.

Maharashtra Gomantak Party (MDP) won two seats while Goa Forward Party (GFP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) won one seat each. While BJP contested this election with MGP, Congress contested with GFP alliance. Holding these elections ahead of the Goa assembly elections in 2027 is of political importance. BJP has been in power in Goa since 2012.

CM's response to BJP's victory

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant thanked the voters for trusting BJP in the district panchayat elections and giving them a great victory. He congratulated the winning candidates from the BJP-MGP (NDA) alliance. He said that people have given a decisive verdict on the double engine government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 'BJP is number 1 in Goa. Thank you to all the people who have blessed BJP with such a great victory' said the CM on the social media 'X'.

Goa district panchayat election polling was held on 20th of this month and 70.81 percent voters exercised their right to vote. 226 candidates contested in 50 constituencies.
